Question about time/suggestion

Mysore, India(Zone 10a)

It is now showing 10.30 A.M on the top. The time here in India right now is 11.03 A.M. I'm confused. Earlier it used to be around 10 and half hours behind the Indian time. I have a suggestion to make here.

International radio broadcasters use the Greenwich Mean Time [also known as Universal Coordinated Time, UTC]. Since DG also has many International members, aside from the great many in the American mainland itself, why not display time both in GMT/UTC and also the US time, if that is possible without any difficulty. It may be of help.

It is still showing the same time up there and I have spent about 7 minutes now. Does it not move with time?

Came back to edit: I just noticed that it is the time in GMT +5 at the bottom. Oops!

Dinu, it does not move on its own; you have to click the "Refresh" button at the very top.

BTW, I see no time at all at the bottom.

I think he's referring to where it says "All times are recorded in {EDT}*"

*insert your particular time zone here -- That line must reflect whatever time zone you've entered in your preferences at http://davesgarden.com/prefs/preferences.php

as long as your computer is set on the right time, (right click on that on your down right) you should be fine Dino. The rest is for the rest of us to decifer, which most of us can, as most of us realize the time llapse.

Oh, I had forgotten about the preferences page and my own setting. Actually, our Indian time is GMT + five and half hours. It does not show there. There is one "Indian Chagos Time" listed. What is it?

Another question. What is that above this? 20 results, 40 results... I did not understand that. See, I'm such a novice!

You can have the forum pages show 20 threads, 40 threads, etc. Some of those with broadband like to have more threads show per page so they don't miss the older ones which have been bumped down by new posts. As far as the Indian Chagos Time goes, I have no clue...Why not choose it and see what the time difference is on your welcome page?

Interesting, I looked up time zones http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/ and a couple of places are offset by 45 minutes. Chatham Island is at UTC/GMT +13:45 hours currently and will be at UTC/GMT +12:45 hours and Khatmandu, Nepal are at UTC/GMT +5:45 hours.

Adelaide, Autstralia is at UTC/GMT +9:30 hours; Kabul, Afghanistan is at UTC/GMT +4:30 hours; St Johns, Newfoundland is currently UTC/GMT -2:30 hours but will soon be UTC/GMT -3:30 hours; Tehran, Iran is at UTC/GMT +3:30 hours; Yangon, Burma is at UTC/GMT +6:30 hours; and India is at UTC/GMT +5:30 hours.

Dave, we are missing a few time zones.

Do Apple computers have the time displayed as we do? If so, then we really wouldn't have to have this feature in DG duplicated at all. Right?
