No PayPal for a while

I've disabled PayPal payments for subscriptions, because PayPal has been having real problems since Friday and my phone is ringing off the hook with people experiencing trouble subscribing because of this.

Therefore, I've disabled PayPal payments for the foreseeable future. Credit cards directly will still be taken, as well as check/cash/money order to my post office box.

Dave- it is back up but FYI it may not be back up for a couple more days. Heads are rolling over there. Even PayPal debit cards stopped working. Needless to say, you are not the only vendor who might be very unhappy. I remember the days when eBay used to crash....lol!

I was able to receive an auction payment yesterday afternoon, and I did some postage and payments a couple hours ago. Hopefully they're on the upward path -- sure hope so!

I also had an issue yesterday resubscribing using a debit card, directly on Standard Out. It kept saying the addresses didn't match. I ended up using a credit card, and that was successful. I've been using both quite heavily in the past week and a half, in places other than my local area, so I'm pretty sure it's not on my end.

just an fyi...

I've re-enabled PayPal.

AngelSong: The bank I use for credit cards (Wells Fargo) is really picky about addresses matching the cards. :(

Do you mean matching my DG listed address to my debit card address?

Ack! That's way more information than I'd ever want listed on DG. You & Trish are fine knowing my address as a part of my subscription, but there's too many people subscribing here to risk them all showing up at my front door un-invited.. ickie!

You've misunderstood. That information goes to the bank for fraud detection purposes, but it's not added to your DG profile. The bank checks your address used on the card with the billing address that they have on file for you. It's a banking issue, not a DG issue.

I think he means the bank compares the address you enter to subscribe vs. the address your credit card statement is sent to. Those two have to match precisely. Dave can explain it better than I, but as far as I know, the personal data is wiped out as soon as the transaction is completed - he doesn't keep people's credit card/address information in the system which is why it must be entered each year at renewal time. I think you're safe from any unwanted visitors ;o)

ack! The addresses match .. I'm sure they do.

Oh well, it's paid for , and that's what matters. I'm probably safer not having my debit card # online anyways.

Actually, the personal data doesn't even touch the DG server to begin with. Subscriptions are purchased through my StandardOut system, which is on a server in New York and is separate from the Tennessee DG server.
