White Coin Envelopes

Milton, VT(Zone 4a)

I know some of you would love to send your seeds in small white envelopes instead of the manilla coil one.

The following company(link following) sells them for about .035 cents per envelope for a box of 500.

On the other hand the minilla one go for about .018 cents per envelope for a box of 500 at the same place.

I'm considering the 2-1/2 x 4-1/4 size as they may allow for the possibility of printing on them but don't believe I need 500 of them. Would like to share the cost with someone (i'd ship to you for free).

That would be great. Just let me know the final cost (with shipping and handling) and I'll send a check.

I'll send you an e-mail.

I've been thinking they'd be easier than how I "make" my seed packets. You could get labels that will go through your printer, peel them off and just stick them on. The coin envelopes themselves are a little too small to go through my printer, but the sticker/label idea would take care of that.

I like my personalized seed packets, but cutting them out and gluing them is alot of work - usually done in front of the tv at night (i.e. a grandma knitting).

I do wish they'd sell these white ones (and even the yellow ones) in smaller packages.

I fugure for small packets of seeds you could cut them in half and fold and tape, but I guess that's back to alot of work, huh?

Just a word of caution.... before buying those envelopes, check to see how the glue is applied to the flaps. Though a good size and very sturdy, I have received seeds in the manila envelopes, only to find the small seeds have escaped into the mailer. I found that the glue is applied to the bottom of the flap, leaving the sides open to allow seed to escape. I taped the entire ends shut to prevent leakage, but now I have to cut the tops of the envelopes to get the seed out. If you use these envelopes, I would suggest inner wax envelopes, as well... so there goes the facile advantage.

Weezingreens,

Good thought. Maybe I'll have them send me a sample.

Packaging seed is such a quagmire. The best for sealing seems to be the small clear ziplocks, but the seeds build up static inside. That can be a real problem with seeds that are like dust.
