Has anyone stayed near Townsend, TN. Do you have any good suggestions of cabins on a creek or Little River?

We always stay at Little River Campgrounds in Townsend. It is located right on the creek. They have cabins too and they aren't as expensive as the other places. We camp there but always have a good experience with the management. I love it and you might too. That is one of my favorite fall places to go. If we weren't going to Arkansas weekend after next that is where we would be.

Just outside the Smokey Mt. National Park going from Nashville by way of Maryville.

It is an excellent central location for staying in order to take advantage of what the park has to offer plus what Gatlinburg and surrounding areas offer also.

I'm almost ashamed I haven't been to Cades Cove, given that it is so close. Well, closer now as the crow flies but harded to get to... lack of roads from here to there. I have a great book on Cades Cove. It looks wonderful and a good buy for our tax dollars.

You are going at a good time. On holidays, UT home football game weekends, and when the trees are at their peak of color change, the traffic is so bad you just creep along in your car when you are traveling the Cove route. It is almost impossible to drive into Gatlnburg at those times also.
