Good deed for the day.

Well not even 10am and excitement already. I just witnessed some young girl run into my neighbors car and just take off. I was able to get her liscense plate and a description for the police. They came down and took a report and have already located the girl. I feel bad on one hand for getting someone in trouble, but I feel great on the other hand for watching out for my neighbor. My neighbor was so thankful I really felt like It was indeed a "good deed".

What is it about young people these days that most of them never want to take responsibility for themselves or their actions? Am I the only one that thinks this?

Not saying I excuse her, but if I had to guess, she was probably just scared to death. I believe all people should take responsibility for their actions. It was great that you were there to help your neighbor!

You didn't get anyone in trouble, this girl got herself in trouble and made it worse by running away. You did the right thing so you should feel good about it. You couldn't have gotten her in trouble if she had done nothing wrong. In this case there would have been damage and paint transfers on both cars. Remember that people get themselves in trouble by doing the wrong thing, it saves a lot of confusion about rights and wrongs. My husband runs into this thinking a lot when investigating criminal activities.

Well hopefully what I get out of it is neighbors that look out for me and my property as well. I am a true believer in the old saying "what comes around goes around."

Badseed you are probablly right..Im sure the girl was scared to death. I would have been too.

Mary, I do think I did the right thing. I still can't help feeling bad for the young girl in some small way. I know she should have stopped but as Badseed said she was most likely scared to death and made a poor decision based on that.

I know when I was that age I would have stopped. From as far back as I can remember my parents harped on me about being "responsible for me." Not to mention I would have had to face their wrath when they found out...lol

Yep,Ya mess up,you fess up. I hope if that girl has an encounter like that again in her life, she will not try and run from it. We just live and learn now dont we!
