another update

montgomery, AL(Zone 7b)

I have been here very little lately as so much has hapened the last couple of month.
I received some birthday wishes & realized I need to come back here. I wrote smiling
a letter in responce to her birthday wish to me so will post most of it here.. to lazy to do
it all over..

I had to have retina laser surgery on my birthday. I had 2 small tears on it. I hope
that will save my site in that eye.

We didn't have any damage due to Ivan. We were very lucky as there was a tornado
about 2 miles from us that wiped out a house & trailer. It also killed a horse &
several dogs.

I still don't know if I can get the apt. They have my social security all messed up. If I
get one figure they give me I have a good chance of being under the limit but if I get
the other figure I will be over. They also were taking $2000 from me saying I never
paid Medicare but I did. They finally realize I did so hopefully That will be OK &
they will return the money they took. They didn't take the whole $2000 but did take
several hundred. I have never seen such a mess.

I don't know what to do about the yard. It is so weedy & with my hands like they are
it hurts to pull the weeds. I hope when it gets cooler maybe I can do some.
I do worry about Homer's hostas. He would never let them stay like they are.
We should just be getting home now as we were gonna stay in Ohio for my birthday.

I need to post in the room too but right now it is hard for me to talk flowers. The
hothouse is in shreds & I have no way to fix it.
I also need to renew my subscription at DG. Probably do that today so I won't forget
it...

I am making it OK.. Lonely but OK. My church family has been wonderful to me.
They are the only real family I have here. I do have my DG family & need to visit
them more :)

I'm so glad you sat down to post this and let us know how you are doing. Yes Sugar, you do need to come here to DG more. Just keeping in daily contact will be good for you, sit down with your coffee or cool lemonade and say hello and tell us what your challenges and joys are for the day. I was thinking of you and praying for you during the recent storms and will certainly continue to pray for your safety and your needs.

Good to see you post,Sugar. ((((HUGS))))

There are so many areas of interest that seem to unfurl like individual petals from one universal flower, that for some of us, it may be a relief to get beyond the flower.

I can't garden physically the way I could when I was younger, but there seems to be more time for more intellectually oriented pursuits.

Thanks to various impetus (impeti?) from DG's forums and threads, I find myself exploring the ethnobotany of plants, particularly in DH's main passion: Native Americans.

Then there's the awesome beauty of the spiral as occurs naturally in plants, some of which research I shared with DGers in my Digital Art thread in the General Discussion forum, not to mention gardens and related subjects in fine art.

And as MaryE, says, there's the community that is DG. I hope you spend time here, too.
