There are so many cuttings on Ebay and seeds too. Has anyone had experience with any of these sellers? My question about the cuttings is: were they taken above the Y?
So many cuttings on eBay...
Woodspirit,
It kinda concerns me that the one i looked at said they were unlabled named ones.
Thats going to lead to alot of confusion when they do bloom. Some of them i've never heard of either. They will be very hard to id when they do bloom.
Its about time for people to be cutting theirs back and im sure the offers for cuttings will be coming shortly.
My first priority is getting cuttings to MaVie and the after that i will be posting my list.
Jen
I have the same problem Woodspirit. Cant trade for cuttings as I am a newbie with nothing worth trading. I just dont trust the cuttings on Ebay. I was gonna get a few from Gretchen but she has had problems this fall.
Oh well, maybe we will get lucky.
charlotte
Charlotteda,
You've got mail.
I am in the same boat as Charlotteda...just incase anyone has a few cuttings to offer!
Margie
I got some off of ebay and they were not what was stated. they were very puney cuttings and didnt survive at all. i got these last month. so i would say be ware and really check the feed back before you buy. i bought some from someone who had one negitive and i was very dissapointed.
i did get a maya off ebay and it was a plant rooted. i bought it from wildflower444444. i was very happy with it. was well rooted and very sturdy in sturcture so to speak. just be careful.
i have gotten cutting off Daves from the wonderful people here when they go to cut theirs back. I even got a few for my mom which was wonderful.
I e-mailed one of sellers. She was offering 20 cuttings of CG and EP for $8. I asked her if her cuttings were above the Y and she answered me and said no. Isn't it best to get cuttings above the Y? or does it really matter that much?
It depends on the size of plant you want, Woodspirit. Cuttings above the Y will flower more quickly, but the shape will be shorter and more of a bush. For a taller tree, you need to have a cutting below the Y. Tonny addressed this with an illustration in another thread. Let me see if I can find it...
Here you go:

Also, want to add that if you see cuttings from Nestor White, or Kathy Kort (Katz Kuntry Kuttins), they are reputable and have really nice cuttings. I have purchased from both thru e-bay...
Edited to add -- Don't buy from Seedmart -- they have been written about extensively here for stealing DG member's photos, misrepresenting seeds, selling out-dated seeds, etc... They have several names...Hirts Seeds is another that comes to mind.

Picture and Charlottada, I will be taking cuttings soon and now I know to take cuttings below the Y for tall bruggies and for shorter bruggies, take cuttings above the Y that will bloom earlier. Please let me know your snail mail addresses and which ones you have, especially if others give you some and I will send others.
Kaufman, thanks for the link to Tonny's explanation.

Margie and Charlotta and Gretchen -
I have some rooted cuttings looking for a good home. I recently bought two rooted cuttings on ebay. They were for "Pink sauvoelens" - I think the seller was Georgiavines. Anyway..the cuttings arrived about a month ago. They looked healthy and were about a foot tall each with 2-4 leaves at the top. I thought they were too lanky looking so on a whim, I cut two more pieces off the top of each one and stuck them in small coke bottles with water to root. I gave them a squirt of Messenger (LOL. Yes, I know I'm obsessed with Messenger - but I figure it couldn't hurt right?). Well, they rooted in about 5 days and I potted them up. See the pic below? Now I have SIX! The two bigger ones are the original cuttings which are really growing fast! The other ones are the new cuttings I made. Anyway..they are growing so fast I am worried about how I will overwinter them all as I have very limited window space. So...would you three like to adopt a cutting each? I also will be cutting up my Jean Pasco and Dr. Suess before frost and will offer those cuttings to anyone interested in a trade or a SASE. So what do ya think? Do any of you have this variety? I was just dying to get a pink one.
Diane Krny
I will have a lot of cuttings later this fall..if any one wants any, please email me.
Kris
Diane,
I know the Dr. Suess is yellow but what about the Jean Pasco? I would love to have a cutting. I have Pink Beauty that I can take a cutting from for you or I have three Rosamond cuttings rooting now that I would be willing to share one with you.
Terrie
Hey, Terrie - Jean Pasco is in the yellow family too. Ya, know it's weird - but sometimes I can't tell them apart. Here is a pic of the two of them I took on August 28th. Dr. Suess is the taller one in the back and Jean Pasco is in the front. Don't they look identical? Another funny thing - it seems like their color changes slightly as time goes on. Lately (the weather has been cooler) and Dr. Suess blooms are a lighter yellow for a few days when the flowers first open - then they develop the orange edges as the flower ages. Does anybody know what the difference is between DS and JP?
Terrie - which cutting were you wanting? yea, sure I'll do a trade...
I'm gonna have to start a list...send me an email with your choice and addy.
Diane
Diane -- please count me out -- I am so appreciative of your generous offer, but I have more than enough cuttings, seedlings and mature plants to keep me busy, plus I want to make sure I don't have any more TSWV...
I believe that Jean Pasco has a much larger bud -- more of a balloon shape, and it also has a deeper ring of orange around the rim of the bloom. Also, the leaves are not serrated on JP, and they are on DS.
Hope this is helpful!
Gretchen
Gosh, anyone want to swap a Jean Pasko? I have Isabella, Big Yella, Whiskers, Spring Peach and a Double White.
Oh my, yes - Woodspirit1 - I would love to to trade with you for an Isabella - I have Jean Pasko.
Shoot me an email with your addy and I will reply. I should be ready to cut and ship in a few weeks.
Diane Krny
I would love to trade for the Rosamond Diana, I have Isabella, Ollie, Cypress Garden and Tequila Sunrise if you are intrested in any of those........
Let me know and I can ship the first of the week....
:o)
Dee
Dee - I don't have the Rosamond - I have the Pink Sauvoelens, Jean Pasco and Dr. Seuss. I think
Terrie (Trunnels) has the Rosamond. LOL so..who's on first?
It's great fun trading and collecting isn't it? The only problem is I have a feeling I will be overrun with baby brugs by mid-winter. Oh, well...can you EVER have too many?
Diane Krny
Diane, you asked about the difference between Dr Seuss and Jean Pasko. I've been working on a database made from bits and pieces of information.
Dr. Seuss is an original import (did not note where from) by Hetty Krauss; I think it was first named Hetty Krauss and later named Dr Seuss.
Jean Pasko is another original import from Ecuador by Jean Pasko. I do not have the years that they were imported but they are both originals.
Just my 2 cents worth
LindaSC
Thanks Linda - I was also wondering what, if any, are the physical differences between them - they just look so alike - was wondering if maybe I actually have two of one and not one of each. Although - I swear they seem to have different scents to them.
Diane
I only have Dr Seuss. Mine starts out light yellow (all over) and gets darker each day turning a deep gold (all over). It has a wonderful scent and you can smell it all over the yard.
Krny you will love Isabella because it is so floriforous.
lhughes, thanx for the info; do I have anything you would like to trade for the Dr. Seuss? I also found I have another on named Champagne (something or other). Nice swooping skirt.
Krny, you have mail.
I got cuttings on eBay from Katz_kuntry_kuttings- they were all nice, and now getting roots.
I checked with monika about Grand Marnier, which I saw on ebay and she said they were a great plant that bloomed in cool climates. I'm going for it! The seller has excellent feedback. Now, don't y'all bid against me, lol. I will let you know about them after I receive them......
I won the auction for Grand Marnier and they arrived today. They look very healthy, the tiny leaves left on the cuttings weren't even wilted. They are a bit thin, probably taken from the top of the plant. I am going to root 2 in water all winter, and 2 in soil.
Margie, you will have mail soon!!
Sherry...Really??
Yep, Margie, LOL!!! Woodspirit, I'm taking bets on the two rooted in soil - I'm a dunce with that water rooting...
Gosh, Margie, I didn't know this was an old thread, you can see how far behind I am, whew!!! You have likely gotten a ton of cuttings and they have probably rooted and bloomed, mercy me...
Sherry...it is not that old, less than a month....I wrote you too!
I noticed today that Kathy Kort "Katz_Kuntry_Kuttins has some cutting collections up for auction. Also a vendor by the name of tctopcat has a bunch of cuttings for sale, but I don't know anything about him/her.
I just joined Dave's last week & have been lurking reading this.I'd love to trade cuttings if I have anything someone wants.I'm quickly becoming a brug addict! I have Frosty Pink,Milk n Honey,Kyles Giant White,Charles Grimaldi,Madeira,Versi Peach,Versi Pink,Sunkissed & DR.Seuss.Please email me as I'm on only at night.Taking care of 2 Moms so being on in daytime is not an option! LOL Thanks Jan
I bought 4 plants from Tctopcat this last spring. She sent nice healthy plants. They were small to start with (as described in the auction), but well rooted, grew fast and three of the four have bloomed so far. She has a big variety of plants, and all of the ones that I got were correctly named.
I have bought from Mary also and was pleased with what I received. I was also pleased with my purchases from Katz.
Will be happy to share some of my cuttings in a week or so; I need to see a bump of how to -- do I root them first, plant them first, or just send fresh cuttings?
I saw a "how to" last spring - (didn't even own a Brug then).
RU points upwards? I didnt know that
I think it is just the angle of the camera. Monika answered that RU has a strong aurea influence and it is pink , so for now that is all I know.
Until it blooms anyway =)
