You country music fans ...

Victoria, TX(Zone 9b)

Okay ya'll... *smirk* .. Help me with a couple singers here... I've taken to listening to the local country music stations as a "cheer me up" style of music. The pop music out currently is almost too lewd to listen to, and the Christian stations seem to be very slow and hymnal style... so I scanned the FM dial, found some fun country music, and find myself laughing hysterically driving down the road ...

Who sings the song about "the best view in my yard is my front porch lookin' in"? The chorus talks about his two kids & wife.... I laugh *every* time I hear that one....

And I know it's more a slow song... but who sings the one about "the long black train?" (there's victr'y , in the Lord.. I say .. victr'y, in the Lord...)

And who sings the one about the 'whiskey lullaby'? This one isn't at all up-lifting, but it sure puts any problems I'm having in perspective ...

TIA,
-Jennifer , who's becoming a closet-country music listener ... shhh.. don't tell!!! :)

The only one that I know right off-hand is the whiskey lullaby. It's a duet sung by Brad Paisley and Allison Krause.

The other two are on the tip of my tongue, but you know, it's the end of the day, the brain cells are shot....

Maybe someone else can think of them

I remembered the other one it's "Lone Star" and the song is "My front porch looking in"

hope that helps, I have a sister in law that deals with all the country music artists and a niece that works for Allison Krause so we usually can count on her to give us the low downs and tickets to grand ol opry helps..

I'm still a rock and roller but learning to love country. I love Alan Jackson and Travis Tritt, both local guys, well kind of local.

You are so right about Josh Turner I love to hear him...Country is all I listen to and it's nice to be so close to Nashville especially during fan fair.

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

I'm all over the dial when I listen to music...a bit of rock, classic, light musice, and country! Love it all!

My most recent favorite, and semi-country/bluegrass:

I stubbed my toe on the Mason-Dixon line...♫
Landed on my haid, near 'bout started cryin'...
Rolled onto my side, scraped my left elbowww...♫♫♫
Fingers jammed in my nose as far as they'd go...!

♫ But I'm a tuff ol' bird
Altho a little wrinkly and gimpy
♫ My voice is still heard
My heart still hollers "yippeee"
♫ I can still dance a jig,
My ears hear the callin’
♫My bee-hind is padded
In case I’m a’fallin’! ♫♫♫

etc....

Ya gotta love it!

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Count us in, we like it, too. I like a lot of country music because it's good storytelling. And I can understand all the lyrics.

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

Toby Keith is my fav, followed by Trace Atkins..i seem to lean towards the hunky ones!!!
Love most kinds of music, except the "hate" stuff..my kids will tell you, i've busted more of their cd's..

Gardena, CA

How bout Gretchen Wilson. She seems to be the female version of Merle. Tells it like it is.
