Those are beautiful.. gosh, there are so many beauties you have, I'm not going to be able to sleep thinking about next season.
Yes next year there will be tons of new ones running around I am sure!!! I will try and save as many seeds as possible before frost hits here!
All i can say is WOW
Flowers are very beautiful.
My goodness they just keep getting better Laurrie!!!!
Very beautiful flower!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Another beauty, Laurri.
OhioBreezy
I need seeds of your above MG.
LOL I don't have any seeds yet, they are setting though.
She's a beauty!
Just gorgeous!, Laurie..........and where did you pick up these beauties, please? Elaine
A friend sent them to me from Japan earlier this spring, they are lovely!!
Laurrie...that is just beautiful!!! I would love to have a seed or two if you get any and can spare it. You have the most beautiful pictures!!
Yes those are lovely, I have them growing here too. Very nice photos!!
those are fantastic blooms !!
Hi Laurie
If you have enough I would love to be put on a list for some seeds from an unusual Morning Glory...if SASE would be ok. Your collection has been stunning this year!
Thanks Lilypon, they are trying their best to get me seeds!! I am keeping my fingers crossed for sure for them to do so before frost, I am already clearing out spaces for the pots just in case...
lolol....I'm crossing fingers and toes for you too!! I hope Jack Frost stays far, far, far away from you! I don't think I've seen a Morning Glory here produce seeds...it seems they just get to a nice size and are putting on a wonderful show when it abruptly comes to an end. :((
Oh man! that is terrible, I know the feeling though, It tends to sneak up on me most fall/winters. This is why I am being extra cautious this year!!! I am growing so many beauties, I want to protect them this time!!
~Laurrie
From all that have/are drooling over your beauties........Thank you!! :D
Laurrie, this bloom is beautiful! You sure are the Morning Glory Queen!!
Bonnie
LOL too funny, I do love them and so far they seem to like me just fine, let's hope mr. jack frost likes me too just a little and holds off!
I just moved into a new house. The house needs a lot of work as does the yard.
I was in the yard a few days ago and noticed in the uncut lawn that there was a beautiful little purple-blue flower growing on a vine on top of the grass - then I realized - that vine was all over the place. I did not get a picture of the flower - as it was gone before I could find the camera - did I mention that I just moved?
Anyway I have found the camera and taken a picture of the leaf. It looks like the leaves in the first picture on this post.
Could I have a morning glory vine in my yard? I have since taken some of the vines and am trying to root them. Will this work?
OK squeaky (LOL love the name) Wonderful your new move! Your leaves look to me like Ipomoea hederacea, or Little Blue, small blue morning glory It's in the plantsdatabase and here is the link http://davesgarden.com/pdb/go/53528/index.html
check it out and see if it looks like the flower you had and let us know!!
Rooting from cuttings usually is very difficult if not impossible, if you watch the vine, you will see some seedpods forming after the flowers drop, if you can't find seeds, just holler and we can help you find them on there.
~Laurrie
Squeaky-there is also a wild mg we have here, in Texas, that has that same leaf. Actually, it can have heart-shaped as well as the trilobed(what yours is)on the same plant. It has a small lavender/pink bloom.
Here are some links:

If THIS is what it turns out to be, TRUST me! You will not have to worry about losing it! They would be a perennial in your zone. They form tuberous roots and come back from the ground in Spring, and get bigger, and bigger, each year. Plus, they reseed themselves like crazy.
If you ever decide you don't want them, they are hard to get rid of...
Kinda like campsis radicans...
-seedpicker_TX
I can second or third that which ever it is, I have a ton of both, and getting rid of them is kinda like anything else the less you want the more you got and visa versa..............LOL.......I think you will have plenty.......
You know I wonder if there is a bounty on Squirells and Armadillos? I could send you some and they could dig those vines for you. But if you didn't want the vines they wouldn'ts dig them, right... .....Those are the nusicance I have plenty of right now.
:o) Dee
OhioBreezy, - YES - it looks JUST like that first picture. http://davesgarden.com/pdb/showimage/7763/
It's such a pretty flower - and what a great gift to have found. I will do my darndest to salvage some of these vines before they cut the grass.. My silver lining.. and here I was upset the grass was knee deep.. shame on me :)
"seedpods forming after the flowers drop" - first I need to see a flower.. I have a new mission.. thanks.
I found another interesting vine with itsy bitsy pink flowers on it.. I noticed the neighbor's fence appears to be covered in it.. I will get a picture when I can. And have to ask the neighbor all about it..
seedpicker_TX, - I have not seen any pink flowers like this. They are pretty tho... I am shocked as an entire ara of the backyard is just covered with this vine and I have found only one flower. But I will be watching...
WillowWisp - send me the squirrels - I had a wild pet squirrel in my last house. (well not IN the house - but in the backyard.) we named him Joe. And he would come by every few days for a handful of walnuts, filberts, etc. I miss him.
He was daring he would come right up to the patio and take the nuts out of the kids hands - yes I know - thankfully no one needed rabbies shots..
we had a pet lizzard too.. he is about 8 inches long and live in a huge ceramic frog my mom gave me...
Squeaky-
The itsy bitsy pink flowers could be bindweed?
-seedpicker_TX
seedpicker_TX,
I did a search for bindweed in the db - and the flower in question is MUCH smaller than that bloom - I have a picture on the way. Should I post it here. Or should I start a new thread - Im new here.. Not sure which way I should go... :)
Hi OhioBreezy,
the flower is beautiful.
I adore purple flowers and I LOVE trumpet shaped blossoms. Your blooms are gorgeous.
The picture I have is not of the same type of flower. - Actually it is a vine on my neighbor's fence. I am seeing spurts of it over the top - and would like to know what it is and how to propogate.
the picture is a bit fuzzy.. I need to better hone my picture taking ability.
Any idea what it is? It could be as common as a house fly - I am just now opening my eyes to flowers and such..
this image does not do it justice - the color is much more vibrant than it appears on my screen.
