Skipping past the new

For the last couple of days, when I skip to new on most threads, it jumps me below the posts I haven't read yet to the post a reply box. Are my cookies messed up maybe? Thanks!

That's happened to me, too, Daisey. I didn't remember to post about it, though, and I'm glad you did!

It's been doing that as far back as I can remember.

Mine has been doing that for a few days now.

I know sometimes if I accidentally double-click then it skips, almost as if the puter thinks I've already read the 'new', and sees it as there not being 'new' to read.

I should have been more specific... lately mine does that on about half the threads only. There have been times it has done that and after a few days, goes back to normal. I just adjust.

I'm just proud that after a distressing summer of computer problems...mine seems to be doing what it's supposed to....what a concept!

Mine has only been recently doing that. And not on all threads and not on just old threads.

Occasionally I have that happen also. I often move back up after clicking on skip to new just in case I missed some responses.

Dave must have a table that contains id of the last message that each of us has looked at. that at times contains an invalid value.

I am also convince that clicking on one of the opeions at the end of a thread sometimes acts as though I have clicked on something different then what I intended. That may be me of course but I have been watching and am rather certain that I am not the culprit. For instance when I finished the previous message I choose to watch the thread and then clicked on Dave's Garden and was taken to The Dave's Garden Forum instead. I am using FireFox and at times go other wierd places when I am not at Dave's Garden.

I think that i just figured out why this happens!!

If I open a thread and it is quite long and I hit Skip To New before it has finished loading and the load's finish coincides with that click, the prompts stretch across the window so that my cursor actually hits Post A Reply and I am taken down to the Reply box.

Okay this genius, quick to draw, found it! The answer is PATIENCE.
