Last day of berry harvest tomorrow

Mount Angel, OR(Zone 8a)

It has been kind of a dismal season with lower tonnage than expected and mold because of rain and humidity so we are glad to bid this berry season adieu and looking forward to next year. They say a farmer's best year is next year. And so it is here for us.

We hosted our Dahlia Days for Blumengarten last weekend and have decided to sell this part of the farm business if we can find a buyer. The dahlias are gorgeous but more work than needed as we are hoping to slow up here instead of pushing hard ahead. I told my DH I would agree to sell the dahlias if I could save myself a good bit of tubers for my cutting garden.

Looking forward to the slower days of fall and winter and maybe some camping in the mountains and hike or two before rain settles in here in western Oregon.

Hi Joann, I'm sorry to hear that your berry season was so rainy, just what you didn't need. As you say, next year will be your best season, farmers are certainly an optomistic bunch. I do hope you get some good days to camp, hike and enjoy the mountains before winter gets to western Oregon. Where do you plan to go?
