Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

well i was at the local nursery today and the big complaint this spring is that the voles are eating everyones tulip bulbs. i think we are having a surge in the vole population here in springfield, massachusetts. i'm so bummed about my pretty crocus and tulips, were a midnight snack. :-(

Decatur, GA(Zone 7a)

Time to get a lot of cats... :-)

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

LOL pins..........but i don't want dead voles as gifts ....unless of course you have something to trade for them? ;-)

Decatur, GA(Zone 7a)

Let's see, what would be a good trade for dead voles? I gotta think on that one. Any suggestions? lol

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Here are those same 2 again. These are from the same pkg.

At least you all can see I do my own gardening. LOL

Sometimes those fancy double daffodils revert back to being single. Some say that is because of higher temperatures during growing season. Let us see how they do next year.

You are right handed, right?

Seattle Burbs, WA(Zone 8b)

Bleek the iris have not attained enough growth to bloom, I don't think. They are all about 7-8" tall. But it is still early I guess.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

LOL I AM right handed. I had to hold the camera with the right hand. I DIG and PLANT with both though. :) You'd have to see my post in gen disc to see why I was so dirty. LOL

Lawrenceville, GA(Zone 7a)

My Iris have started to flower, but I am earlier than the great NW

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Bert, did you keep track of what you sent to whom? I want to make sure I don't forget to let you know about anything. I know I have a list but where I put it may be another story. LOL I planted a lot of new stuff last year. All the stuff you sent has special markers so eventually I will find it. :)

Mableton, GA(Zone 7b)

I have a few more iris blooming true to name and gorgeous. The only name I can remember right now (I'm at work, lol) is Coral Point. :)

Crossville, TN(Zone 6b)

Bert, the tulips I bought from you were as advertised and were large and healthy. They bloomed magnificently. It was the tulip Daydream.
You sell bulbs for fund-raisers, right?

Lawrenceville, GA(Zone 7a)

Thanks for all the feed back. I can see that most of it is true to name. I have sent samples to 27 people so in some parts of the country the season must be really late.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I am really enjoying them. Thank you!

Kingston, OK(Zone 7a)

Same here Bert I really enjoyed them.

dear bert,
well i've given up hope of any bulbs emerging from the garden plot i had of your bulbs. the only things that came and bloomed were the 3 daffodils, which i didn't get a pic of but were strong, healthy, large and the blossom was a bright yellow that glowed with spring happiness. as for all the others.............well the dang voles got them. can i say #$% #(@)%* @#2!!! those rotten #4@@$8** voles. can i say that on dave's? ;-)
i was so looking forward to the succession of blooms.
thank you bert for this opportunity. you are a sweetheart. and i KNOW i can say that on dave's. ;-)

You REALLY are an active participant! I tip my hat to you and really appreciate this.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Awe, thanks! The bulbs were free in exchange for the information on them. I figure returning the info is the least I can do. :) I have at least one other set. I think they are dutch iris that I really, really wanted! LOL I have to get you a pic still. They started blooming yesterday.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I'm sad to say it, but I think this is the last of my test bulbs. :( I have so enjoyed growing these. This one has actually been on my wants list for a while so you cannot imagine how happy I was when I pulled them out of the box. :)

Hey Bert! As the Iris Season will be soon leaving us, I only had the one Iris photo (above) to report. I will feed them all and report again next season. As Iris do, they sometimes take a few years.

Decatur, GA(Zone 7a)

Bert, my Arctic Fancy is blooming beautifully. Today's bloom only had 2 standards and falls, though. Jesse's Song bloomed with a huge number of flowers. Carolina Gold, Painted Cloud (what a beauty), Royal Touch, and Titans Glory have all bloomed true to the picture. Several irises have not bloomed yet. I'll keep you posted as they may still yet bloom.

Thanks for letting us do this for you. What a treat!

Lawrenceville, GA(Zone 7a)

Thanks for the update. I am surprised that they are this late flowering. I am glad you are enjoying them. Enjoy.

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

Here's my report:
Allium 'atropurpureum" - only 1 bloomed as of 6-8-05 (nothing to write home about)

Chionodoxa 'luciliae' Pink Giant - bloomed early April - cute things

Fritillaria 'persica' - all came up - none bloomed ( never had good luck with these)

Hyacinthus 'orientalis' Atlantic & Jan Bos & Pink Pearl - bloomed mid April - good- stood up tall

Muscari 'azureem' only 2 of 5 bloomed - small and nondescript -will move them to a different place for next year

Narcissus 'curly ' - bloomed end of Apr
Narcissus 'flower drift' - bloomed end of Apr
Narcissus ' jonquilla" sundial - bloomed end of April
(all the above were nice...)

Tulipa 'tarada' bloomed all of April = gorgeous!!

What a fun time this was. Oh, I planted everything on Oct. 27 -04

I didn't take any photos, but of all the ones that bloomed, they were all true to their pictures

My absolute favorites were the jonqulla sundial and the tulipa tarada - I am going to get more of those for myself.

Thanks for letting us participate ! If you need anymore volunteers, I would be glad to lend a hand!!
