Volunteers needed.

You might know-I just found this post :(

The bulbs are being packaged right now and will be shipped today and Monday. I will post a list of who is participating in this project later this week. For those who are not on this list, don't loose hope, there is always Spring. Thanks for participating and hopefully we all learn something from it as well have varieties that are not as common.

This will be fun. Will be on the lookout for them. Perfect timing, I'm starting bulb planting next week!

Mableton, GA(Zone 7b)

Got mine! Actually got them on saturday. :) I was expecting some tulips, but I got a box full of iris! Do you care where or how we plant them Bert? Are you looking for any specific conditions?

Lawrenceville, GA(Zone 7a)

Sorry, no tip-toe-ing through the tulips for you kiddo. Plant them according to the instructions....that way we can see if those are right as well.

Mableton, GA(Zone 7b)

Heck I'm happy with the iris! :)

bleek - mine arrived today!! Yipee - Christmas in September!!! I'll get them in the ground, label them and let you know how they do - this is sooo much fun.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Hey Bert! Mine arrived yesterday. Lovely selection. I'll be putting them by the pond where I have no other bulbs. I'll be sure to report back to you in the spring. Thanks for the opportunity!

Cassopolis, MI(Zone 5a)

Hi Bert
Mine arrived today and everything looks good.

I am curious about what kind of information you are looking for in the spring.

I will mark on the tags how many bulbs I am putting in so I know if they all come up and will also do a spreadsheet with the same info that I can send you in the spring.

Are you only interested in if they come up, or are you also wanting to be sure they are what they are supposed to be for height, color, etc????

Do you want to know how long the blooms last?

I will try to remember to kinda keep track of what kind of a winter we have, some are worse than others and that could make a difference on how they do.

Let me know what it is you want to know so I am sure that I track the right info for you.

Thanks so much for allowing me to participate by growing these.

There are some basic questions on the bottom of the "packing list". If you feel that some more information may be helpful for your "fellow gardeners" than by all means note this.

Cassopolis, MI(Zone 5a)

Well, I am glad that you told me that, because I missed it totally!!! DUH I apologize

I will check out the packing list and add anything I think folks might be interested in.

Take care my friend!

I must take a minute also to tell you that the daylilies that I bought this spring have done really well, I just moved a few of them and could not believe how large the clumps have all ready gotten!!!

Well I planted all mine on Thursday. I had also gotten a huge order from Sutton's. I planted them all interspursed with each other, so that should be a good gauge.

Kingston, OK(Zone 7a)

Bert mine have not arrived yet. Will still watch for them

Kingston, OK(Zone 7a)

Have arrived and are now in the ground. Marking them this afternoon. Picture is of expanding a bed for them.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Thanks Ted. I was going to come looking for this. So far in my weird zone 6, I have one type of test bulb blooming. I took a pic yesterday and it is still on the camera. LOL

Seattle Burbs, WA(Zone 8b)

I was thinking about this thread too! One of the Iris bit the dust :( I will have more updates later in the spring.

Cassopolis, MI(Zone 5a)

I agree with the Thank you, I had been thinking I needed to find this thread also.

Here in Zone 5, I have a couple just peeking through the ground cover that I am just starting to take off, will not be past the danger of a freeze until the end of this month.

Very Pretty.

Now as a general note.....please give all these babies a little food to eat right after flowering so they will be even more beautiful and bountiful next year. This counts for ALL flowerbulbs. Thanks for sharing these with your 'fellow' gardeners.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Thank you Bert. I think you shared the most though. :)

Isn't it pretty how the three colors show on the inside and outside of the flowers??

Cassopolis, MI(Zone 5a)

My goodness those are really cute crocus! Now I am really anxious to see what will be blooming soon!

Decatur, GA(Zone 7a)

Bert, what's the best food for the bulbs? Would it be the same for crocus and for iris? I want to make sure we get re-blooms next year.

Lawrenceville, GA(Zone 7a)

Anything is better than nothing........prefered is 12-12-9 for both bulbs and perennials, however the 10-10-10 is just better than nothing. For established bulbs and perennials, it needs to be done right before emerging after Winter has left us and one more time right after they have flowered. Dead-head all flowers regularly.

Decatur, GA(Zone 7a)

Thanks, Bert. I guess I've missed the first feeding big time. Now, off with their heads!! lol

Kingston, OK(Zone 7a)

For the best of me I stapled all the labels togather left to right and can not find them yet. This is one Tulip up and blooming. Morning sun.
Missed taking pictures of the Hycinths a pretty light Pink.

some of mine are popping there heads out of the ground. the others i'm hoping will soon. i have vole holes and trails all over my garden beds this spring and i'm worried for the bulbs. i planted them deeply, so i'm hoping they weren't down that far snooping around.

Oh, I love the daffodils with the white cup and yellow petals. It's so different and refreshing! What's the name of that one?

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

here is a picture of the garden bed i planted my bulbs in. the good news is you can see at the bottom of the picture were some of the leaves are coming up. mostly crocus leaves and one hyacinth. the bad news is that there are none in the middle and there are loads of vole holes all around this area. i can see were they have eaten the roots entirely off of a sedum, and the entirety of a couple of other plants. so i'm a tad worried about the bulbs there. but we'll keep our fingers crossed. the voles are having lots of good chow in my garden beds. it is very frustrating.

I really love these. I don't think my camera quite captured the color. They are a very nice 'grape' purple. They opened more full than this but I was too busy and dirty to go get the camera. LOL

My iris 'Jesse's Song' bloomed today true to type. Beautiful. :) Sorry I don't have a digital.

my white hyacinth is blooming too

Tulip Fancy Frills

These are gorgeous! I want to remember to move them out front for next year.

I'm not sure about these. Do they often throw blooms that are not 'stuffed' or double? Some are opening with simple cups but others look like they will be doubles. I'll take more pics as others open.

More of the single ones. Sorry, my 1 year old mangled this one. She hasn't quite gotten the concept of 'smell only'. LOL
