Marion, I will look forward to your email. Bernie, I like Sam's butter, it is made by Mid-America Dairy and I pay 9.68 for 4 pounds. (I use a lot of butter.) The reason why your milk and butter is so much cheaper than ours is because you are in or close to the land of Milk and Honey :). Aria, I am from Massachusetts and both mine and DH's families still live there (Western MA). I know what you mean about the farms dwindling away. I remember many farmstands growing up and it was fun to stop while out for a ride and get some eggs and corn, etc. Both Ralph and I have memories of being on farms (he spent every summer at his uncle's farm in Bernardston, MA). Our family keeps asking us to come back "home" and if we ever decide to do that I will let you know, we will be closer than KY to get fresh eggs from. I'm sure you can find somewhere that has good produce and fresh eggs. Check with the extension office. We heard there are less than 100 farms left in Massachusetts. You must be close to RI. If I hear of anyone in your neck of the woods, I'll get back to you. Good luck. :) Kathy

Yes, check with your local extension office Aria. They should be a good resource for you.
Thanks, John and Kathy, I'll do that. Talk about food you should read some of the stories I wrote in Jokes and chat uner Darius's thread "Grandmother's Apron.
Maria
Maria laughed so much at those jokes...the morning of my [oral] surgery..I was almost hysterical...I was supposed to get a "massage" from one of the docs but they did not have time...,my hubby figured I did not need it as he had heard me laughing so much....grammas on the web does not have time to bake those cherry pies anymore...It is so lovely to have these special postings as life is so serious and so many people with problems...we really need it... hope you and your dear husband are having a better day..m
Marion, have you read Grand mas Apron? I posted some stories in there you might want to read, http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/453740

Maria I did read Grandmas apron [ oh! so very funny] but I will go back again and see what more gems are in there...people who "were travelling" were an absolute hoot !!! it is just amazing what peope will say [ have met lots of them in England too and I know they are all over] More amazingly are the people who you would think would know better..but don't...
In fact probably the world is full of them..but they do give us "our jollies"
bless their little hearts....go southerners !!!!!!!
I don't recall anything about traveling, Marion, I thought the whole thread was about grandmothers, I must have mist something.
Maria
Maria, I have just posted on grandma's thread, its a lovely thread...Earlier on when someone suggested to me that I check out the humour [jokes] I had bounced around back and forth, reading various threads and that is where I found the joke about gramma being on the web [ my hubby even laughed at that one] not even quite sure where it is right now... [ thought this is what you meant] went back this evening and read all of the postings on the thread that Darius started...they are so lovely all of them, and I enjoyed each one they were all so alike and yet so different..I think the older ones amongst us can really identify with the hardships and the perseverence that our parents and grandparents had...and yet gave us the best life they could...
