Stolen Crab cakes?

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8a)

I have two friends who I promised to bring dinner to tonight. One of my friends has brought her 92 year old mother home to care for as she is dying and hospice is there. A second friend is going thru chemotherapy for cancer. I went out to this wonderful fish market and purchased 7 crab cakes and other items for these dinners. I had two shopping bags: #1 one dinner of 3 crab cakes, mashed potatoes, salad, french bread. The second bag #2 had 4 crab cakes, 7 stuffed mushrooms(from the fish market), smoked salmon pate, crackers, mashed potatoes, salad and fr. bread. I had the bags in my car and delivered bag #1 and left #2 in my car unlocked. I went in unloaded the food into the refrig. and left. Maybe 8-9 min. I took #2 left it w/ Lesa my friend at her front porch and went on to work. Tonight at 6:30 Lesa re: #2 called me to say they cannot find the crab cakes. Her sister had unloaded the bag into refrig. I checked my frig and car. Drove to my friends w/ #1 and checked her refrig. and counted 3 crab cakes. Drove another mile and checked #2 refrig. I am now convinced that someone reached into my car and took the 4 crabcakes out of the bag. They are no where. My kitchen/house/car have been thoroughly searched. ????

Are you sure the fish market actually gave you all the crab cakes?

wow, sounds fishy to me!!!

How are you? Hope all is well with you!
I sent my son home yesterday, it's going to be quiet here for a while.

You sure #2's sister put them in the fridge, or in her mouth??

I love crabcakes...mmmmmmmmmmmmmm Maybe I drove all the way up there and raided your fridge? It would be worth it just to have a fresh crab cake. That's one thing I really miss from living on the east coast.

Ok, so WA is a long way away. If I'd known they were there, though... ;)

I'm appalled at the stunts some people will pull nowadays. I'm so sorry this happened. But probably not as sorry as the intended recipent.

It's the person that got the crab cakes who is really Sorry. And not as in apologetic!

My first thought was the store did not put the crab cakes in there. Can't imagine in that short of time that someone would just take the cakes and not everything else. I think I'd let the store know they weren't in there, someone may have realized after you left that they forgot them. I've remembered things after people have left the market.

There were 7 crab cakes! I took 3 out of the store container leaving 4. Are there any recipes in the Recipes forum for crabcakes or salmoncakes?

Payneville, KY(Zone 7a)

I see....you counted and separated the cakes yourself.......jeepers...They must be some really good crab cakes for someone to want to lift them....

For some reason, I thought you had gone to a restaurant and purchased two bagged dinners (like Boston Market does) and left one in the car while you put the other in the house, sorry for my misunderstanding.

Still doesn't make sense why only the cakes were missing. You can probably find a great recipe by going to allrecipes.com or dianaskitchen.com

Several years ago my mother was weeding in her front yard and someone went in the back door of her house and took her wallet. A store employee several blocks away found it in her store coat a couple of days later. Without any money but everything else ok.

But to not take the whole bag is weird. Was someone watching you purchase them? Maybe someone who knew where you lived?

Somehow I think either you or one of the people you purchased them for are going to find them and everyone is going to be embarrassed.

BTW, I hope you let us know if they surface. Jeanette

Ask the vendor to describe the next person who came in for them. Maybe the perp was still drooling over them and followed you from the store!

Do you have any pets, or were there any animals around.. they are really fast at taking whatever is on top.. This is strange. I love crab cakes too. Now I'm hungry..

I would like a friend like you - crab cakes, mashed potatoes etc. yummy. I promise I didn't take the crab cakes. It is kind of funny after the fact.
