Need help for a new gardener in Pensacola, Fla

My nephew recently moved to Pensacola. I need two types of info-is there a really good nursery in the area with reliable, knowledgeable people working there, and could someone give me some advice on shrubs that are used for foundation plantings in the Pensacola area. The front of his home has been professionally landscaped, but the back of the house has not, and I want to help him with this if possible. I would be very appreciative of any advice you could give me. Thanks.

I believe you can type his zip code into Garden Watchdog and it will list nurseries in his area and give you good member feedback :)

LGW,
I'm in Navarre which is not too far from Pensacola. What I noticed as common shrubs being used in this area are Oleanders, privet, indian hawthorn, Crepe Myrtles (sp?), and some that look a lot like red tip photinias. There are many others. I'm also new here and had to kind of ease my way into the gardening here. Gardenias seem to be pretty common here too. As far as nurseries go you can ask Rylaf. She seems to know all about this and I usually rely on her guidance. One good start (but pricey) is Floral Tree Nursery on Olive Rd. I have to tell you though... They are definately pricey. Not just by a little bit. Nice place to look and get ideas but I try and stay away from buying there unless it's something I know I can't get anywhere else. If I had lived here longer or if I lived closer to Pensacola I might know of other places so I can't help all that much. Weeds has a good suggestion. It WOULD be nice to see him join DG to have other NWFL area local DG'ers here. I wish there were more. The kind of help he can get here will be ongoing and can change according to the needs of his garden.
