Home gardening club discount. NHGC421 20% off.

Decatur, GA(Zone 7a)

Does that have an expiration date?

Plano, TX(Zone 8a)

Okay, I have to tell you. I sprayed a week ago and was somewhat skeptical about actually seeing results. This morning my brugs and hydrangea leaves look much, much healthier. Can't tell much difference on other plants but a definite the brugs and hydrangeas. And it isn't because of a weather change -- we are still in the 90s!

Tarogers, how do you use that discount info? I am not familiar with the home gardening club. thanks

Decatur, IN(Zone 5a)

TARogers5, thanks for trying to help. Sure wished that discount was still current. I just placed my order and was told it was outdated or it didn't exist.

Kell, at the bottom of your list of items in your shopping cart is a part that asks for the discount code. I entered the two mentioned above but was told they both were outdated.

Hey all:

I just applied some of this product to my plants. For those of you who have been using it for a few weeks now, have you been seeing any improvement?

Just curious.

Take care,
Ispahan

GOD's Green Earth, United States(Zone 8b)

None here... I've applied it two times and see no difference at all. Gretchen :(

TYLER, TX(Zone 8a)

I wish I had taken before pictures. The larger begonia has been sprayed twice, the others only once and the little one has not received any Messengers. My plants were really stressed by Texas heat and humidity and my negelect. The only thing I did different was spray the Messengers. I think this stuff really works but I am no expert.

So glad you have come back to us BoFo!! I was afraid my welcome to you where I kiss kissed you, made you run for your life! LOL And you saying it worked for you is good enough for me!

Brooklyn, NY(Zone 7b)

I've sprayed messenger and I think it makes the plants look like I was imagineing them to look..
the plants pick up a thich strong attitude to all of their parts ... stems.. leaves and coloration.. and thicker looking flowers..
I think it's a lovely addition to good gardening.. Gordon

Kell
The kisses I can handle, the vote of confidence should make me blush; but I know that you are putting me on.....: )

Clinton, CT(Zone 6b)

Gordon - are you a native New Yorker? Reading your post - it almost sounds like you have a British Accent. :-)

I just love accents...

My mothers family was from Gilbert, Louisianna and I just have to speak with any of them for 5 minutes and I start talking just like them -- you would never know after hearing how quickly I pick up that southern accent, that I was born and raised in a Connecticut yankee. LOL

Regarding, Messenger results -- I am really curious to know too. I started this thread because I honestly just think the stuff is great. I see improvements in absolutely everything I spray it on - sometimes it's quite subtle - other times dramatic. At the very least I see what Gordon has described as an immediate, "stand to attention" by the leaves, stems and flowers in plants. Much like a body builder who pumps up and poses in a "flexed" stance at a competition. I sure hope no one gets upset with me if they don't see any results that they consider impressive -- really, I have no interest in over-promoting this product. It's just one more tool, (albeit an impressive one, I think,) in our arsenal of tools to help us get the most out of our beloved plants.

I have just begun using Messenger on my houseplants. So far I have applied it to a 16 year old Jade Plant, a Christmas Cactus and two young plants in the Mandevilla family I have growing in pots on a small trellis (a Tropical Dream variety (yellow flowers, varigated leaves and the "Little Red Riding Hood variety). Everthing has exhibited the same immediate characteristic reactions to Messenger i.e. the "greening up" and increased flower production and the leaves just look healthier, firmer and stand up a little stiffer than before.

I am waiting to see if and how Messenger will help my seedlings I start this winter and of course my yard plants I will apply it to come next Spring. Ultimately, those of you who have chosen to try this will form your own opinions and I hope you will share your experiences with the rest of us - good or bad. This certainly isn't the "be all and end all" of plant products - but it is enormously facinating technology and I am glad to have the opportunity to experiment with it. Each of you will form your own opinions..but for me..it's a keeper.

Hey BoFo! LOL. No, I would never ever put you on! How many brugs do you have?

I wonder if once you have been using Messenger for awhile, if you then stop, how the plants react.

Mableton, GA(Zone 7b)

My biggest concern is that since it is enticing them to exert all this extra energy into being 'better' plants, that they will poop out after awhile unless you are feeding them more too...

I know if I had to be my 'best' all the time that eventually I'd pass out. lol

Coburn, PA(Zone 6a)

Friends;

Interesting question about how plants respond to long term continued use of Messenger. Here's what we know and what we expect.

First, we do have some experience on continued use on perennial plants like tree fruits and citrus. Our experience after several years is that the plants tend to gain and actually get stronger rather than "burn out". There is a good reason for that based on our understanding of the plant biology involved.

One of the basic responses tied to the plants defense mechanism involves photosynthetic activity. We've measured this in over 40 species of plants. Messenger treated plants photosynthesize at a higher level, providing increased energy to fund the changes taking place in the plant and to make up for the "drain" being put on the system. Think of it as a survival tactic that helps the plant keep it's head above water when the plant is being attacked by a disease. If the plant doesn't have a disease putting a drain on the system, this increased energy production can be used by other plant systems...to put on growth, flower more profusely, produce more fruit and manage the other facets of the defense response.

Fortunately, plants don't appear to mind being 'on' and actually seem to take advantage of the increased energy available to them when they are, especially in the absence of disease.

OK, where can I get some Messenger for humans. God, how this broken mind and body needs some.

I'm with you kell!!!

I'm behind you two in line. LOL

Tallahassee, FL(Zone 8b)

I'm #4!!!!! But I have to bring my recliner & someone to move it forward in the line for me!!!

If it would help, I'd be more than happy to spray myself all over with a gallon or two, or three!!

I wonder if anyone has done any research on using this, or something similar, for the human body??? I mean, I know I'm not a plant, well, at least not yet. What about humans in the vegetative state???? LOL

Does anybody know what happens to this stuff if it experiences very cold temperatures? My house has been without power since Wednesday night's ice storm. The temperature tonight is going to be below zero (with windchills of 15 to 25 below). The electric company doesn't expect to get service on until Sunday night. :^{

I am wondering whether this product will be ruined by the cold. I am hoping my houseplants, brugs and stored tubers won't be frozen. It is turning out to be a strange Christmas this year! But at least my brother has power so I am grateful for that. Being without it makes you really appreciate how dependent you are on it.

Happy holidays, everyone!

Tellico Plains, TN(Zone 7b)

Merry Christmas to you too .

I pray every one comes safely through the terrible weather that your area is experiencing.

Maybe you should change your handle to NoAmps ? Just a little levity to boost your spirits. LOL

Stay warm & Safe

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

My guess is that nothing happens to it until it mixes with water. Just a guess though. I'm glad you have someplace warm to stay. Your plant can be replaced if they don't make it. I hope your water pipes don't freeze. You might want to shut the water off to the house, just in case. What a time to have something like this storm come your way. I'm sure glad you are okay. Keep us posted.

Everson, WA(Zone 8a)

NoAmps would be a good one. Heaven knows we have had enough H2O in the last two years to float the Titanic.

We left all the faucets dripping so the pipes won't freeze. Our neighbors are braving it out and have a key to our house so if they start having a problem with their pipes they can check ours. The upside (though I am not there to see it) is that the sun was out today and the east side of Columbus looks like it has been carved out of crystal.

Hello friends.
I was just directed to this thread today and I'm eager to try this messenger. I can't get any of the links above to work:(
Can anyone share a site with me where I can find this stuff? I'd greatly appreciate any help and info.
Thanks, JD

Yukon, OK(Zone 7b)

Give this one a try..... http://www.edenbio.com/

Decatur, GA(Zone 7a)

Also, Thripmaster (Robin) works directly for Messenger. While she doesn't try to sell Messenger at all on DG, I'm sure she would be glad to answer any questions you might have if you dmail her.

-South Central-, IL(Zone 6a)

Well, you guys got me excited! I just ordered Messenger and MightyPlant...

They're having an inventory reduction sale RIGHT NOW!!!

lagrange, GA(Zone 7a)

Flowrlady I was at a roundup where Thirpmaster (Robin) did a presentation on it and gave out samples. In her presentation she mentioned that you are wasting the product if you let it run off the leaves. Do not water it in the soil it doesn't do any good that way. Only need to wet the leaves for it to be effective. I tried it and really had a blackie sweet potatoe vine that looked as if it was dying and after spraying it the next day it looked wonderful. Just wanted to throw in the info about spraying so you wouldn't waste any. It is good.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Shoot, I didn't see an inventory reduction sale on the Messenger!

Northern California, United States(Zone 9a)

Kell, it's for the Mighty Plant "This is a special, limited time offer to save big on MightyPlant. Buy in bulk and save 40% off the single packet price! 100 single dose packets per box." $60. They are normally $1 per packet. Want to split a box with me? It's got the harpin in it, same as Messanger but it's a water soluble fertilizer, 18-18-18 plus micronutrients. Sounds good, I wouldn't mind trying it.

Marietta, GA(Zone 7b)

I LOVE this stuff!!

Susan

Decatur, GA(Zone 7a)

Where is Robin? I haven't seen her around lately?

-South Central-, IL(Zone 6a)

Thanks, Georgia. I'm looking forward to this new miracle stuff... and I'm sure my plants will love it even more!!!

Sue, sorry about the Messenger/MightyPlant mistake! All of this is new to me...

I followed a link to this site and I have to say, I am very impressed with the good reports. I had seen messenger mentioned on some other posts, but didn't know it was such a miracle worker. I will be anxious to have my order delivered. Most say, I love DG, but it sure has cost me some money. I have not grown from seed in years. I have orderd a heat mat, 35%h202, pruning shears and now messenger.
expecting great success with the new brugs that I will have growing from cuttings and seeds.
thanks everyone for your recommenedations.

Well, I just purchased the last 2 boxes of the 3 packets from a Seller on E-Bay (which I had purchased 1 box before to send to Aloha Hoya). They were $4.50 each and combined shipping was $8.05. I don't know how expensive it is to purchase outright but figured I'd give it a go. If someone who can't purchase Messenger through the company is interested, I will share 1 box with someone for my cost which would be $8.55. I would ship the persons box in a bubble envelope First Class which would probably be $1.50 or so so $10.00 would be roughly the final price. Just thought I'd offer. I don't think I will need more than 1 for myself with all the other fertilizers I have on hand.

Sincerely,
Kim
