Jenny and other gardening friends;
I’m Jeff. I work for EDEN Bioscience. I was browsing through the garden forums this weekend and came upon this forum and saw you post about the Messenger site being secure. Sorry for the scare with your credit card and the site being secure, but not to worry, the site is definitely secure.
The reason the lock doesn’t show up and the URL in the address bar at the top doesn’t change to “https:” has something to do with how the pages on the site were originally designed...using something called frames. We are feverishly working on changing our site to something that doesn’t use frames to fix this problem, but your transaction is secure. In fact, if you look at the bottom left corner of you browser window (at least on Internet Explorer) when you click through the checkout process, you will see that the pages being called are “https:…….”.
I’m sorry for the scare and hope to have this fixed soon.
Cutting Edge technology can help your plants..
Jeff,
Thanks for chiming in to reassure those of us who have recently purchased MESSENGER without double-checking the security of your site.
Hi Jeff!!! How about a Dave's group discount? We sure will try your product coast to coast. LOL
Darius, I believe all credit cards cover you and you do not need insurance. I saw a show about these insurance scams last year.
OK Kell, ask and you shall receive.
Here's what we can do. You can get a 10% discount on your order PLUS 2 free samples of our new enhanced plant food MightyPlant with any purchase of Messenger over $15.
You can purchase Messenger at http://www.edenbio.com/hg/hgcart.html
Just use this coupon code when you checkout to get your discount: DVSGRDN829
This offer will be good for one week (until September 6). Registered users will also qualify for future discounts and special promotions, so please register too. Spread the word to your friends!
Jeff, thanks for the word on the site. This is a relief to me and probably others. Jenny
Sounds like a fair offer, Jeff.
All the folks above who have already ordered Messenger due to this thread are gonna throw rocks at you, though!
LOL! I already ordered the other day also. I got stuck also because I am in California and not all the cheaper bulk packages are offered.
Darius;
It's awfully hard to go back and make it retroactive, but you might consider it a good opportunity if you plan to use Messenger in the future. The un-opened packages will be good for several years!
If you do feel the need to throw rocks, please throw little ones ; )
Jeff
I guess my instincts kicked in because I had decided to order by phone tomorrow, on Monday rather than take a chance on a site that wasn't secure. I just ordered and got the Daves Garden Discount.
Thanks Kell.....for asking and Jeff for giving.
Belle
These people are so nice. After seeing my post yesterday, Jeff emailed me and checked on my order. He said it was mailed 8/20 and that I should have received it. He is going to get their customer service dept. to call me tomorrow and let me know how it was shipped. How many people or companies would take the time to do that?
I placed my order yesterday...I think I will call them and if it has not been shipped, maybe I can add to it and qualify for the discount. I will let you know how I make out.
This is WONDERFUL customer service....Thank you Jeff !!
Am I glad I found this thread. I need HELP, so I just ordered. Sounded to good to be true, but after all the testimonials from my DG pals, I figured I couldn't go wrong. Thanks guys and thanks Jeff for the discount.
THANKS JEFF!! Looking forwad to trying your product! I just put my order in... :) Thanks Darius for the "heads up" about this thread over in garden tips!

Hi, All - I'm back! The cable guy just fixed my internet connection...wow - hi, Jeff - I'm the person who started this thread and a true believer in your product. Thanks for the discount offer - I'm going to take advantage of it to order more - I will not be without this come next Spring. Say, Jeff - do you happen to be the person I heard introduce this product on Ralph Snodsmith's Garden Hotline Show?
Diane Krny
Hi Diane
Thanks very much for starting the discussion and sharing your Messenger experience on Dave's Garden. We are really excited to have other people see first hand the hidden potential that Messenger unlocks in their garden.
And yes, that was me on Ralph's show.
By the way, we are looking for pictures of Messenger treated vs. untreated plants. Did you indicate you might have some? Would love to see them.
Jeff
sometimes it pays to procrastinate...or as I prefer to say "BUSY" lol. Saved 10 % on my order!
Well, it took me about six times to get my order to go thru on the site but I finally made it. LOL
Well Jeff they talked me into it. Ordered some.
Finally no winds here today so I went out and sprayed this morning! I'll be thrilled if it helps with the mites and cats! LOL I'm anxious to see how things go here.
I sprayed yesterday afternoon late, then it rained all night and all day today. Do I need to re-apply?
Dear lhughes;
Messenger only needs to be in contact with the plant for 15-30 minutes to activate the reactions that we're looking for. Once the specialized receptor cells on the plant are stimulated to send a signal through the plant to turn on it's defense response, the presence of Messenger is irrelevant...the plant has taken over at this point. It's like turning on a light switch in the plant.
In most broad leaf plants, that switch stays turned on for 2-3 weeks, thus our recommended 3 week spray interval if you want to keep the plants natural defense mechanism "turned on".
Jeff
Hi, Jeff -
Okay, I will try to show you a few examples. I'm really sorry I don't have good before/after pics - but I didn't take any good pictures of my daturas when they were in really bad shape before I started using messenger - it didn't occur to me at the time I might want to show others the results. But their growth was pretty stunted by the cool wet summer we have had and four lined beetles had riddled the leaves with holes - also many of the flowers developed brown spots all over them as soon as they opened and looked awful. Here is the best I could do for a composite pic of the Daturas I put together - The top picture shows the triple yellow taken in July before Messenger - if you look carefully you will see the leaves are riddled with holes (from the beetles) - and believe me this was one of the best blossoms I had all year - which was why I took this picture. Now..the bottom two pics I took yesterday - notice how green and healthy the foliage is now and the blossoms - crisp, strong and not a spot on them... see my next two postings for more pics..
Okay...here is my Endless summer hydrangea. Now I know the angle of the camera is different - and it is a little difficult to see the difference -- but in two weeks that plant has exploded with growth. I really wish you could see it in person. The most dramatic thing (besides the lush new growth) is that this plant has only had 2 blossoms all season. The first pic from mid August shows one bloom that I have since cut off.
Now the after pic I took yesterday - and that plant has 19 buds!! 19 buds in 2 weeks - to me that is amazing - and this is what really sold me on Messenger.
Okay - here is a pretty good example for you - this shows two of my petunia planters. Both of these plants had the [deleted] beaten out of them when the remnants of hurricane Charlie came through and their flowers were waning anyway - I thought they were just naturally going by after beautifully blooming since April. Now..I sprayed the planter on the right with Messenger the day after the storm, but I did NOT spray the one on the left because I planned on just pulling those plants out of there and replacing them with Mums for the fall. But LOOK at what happened to the one on the right in these last couple weeks (trust me - it looked as scraggley as the other one) ! It's back - looking as good as before! You will have to trust me on this folks - I have no reason to tout this stuff so enthusiastically if I wasn't actually seeing these impressive results.
Wow- thanks for posting! I'm really looking forward to getting mine!
Susan
All I can think of is WOW! What a great group of comparison pictures.
You seem to be a diamond studded Green Thumb! .......and a beauty in your own right.
Thank you for sharing with us. I can hardly wait for my order to arrive.
WoW Diane! I am lovin these pics! Thanks so much for posting :) I really can't wait to get mine. I have about 50 sunflowers with buds all over them and I know Messenger will give me the display I'm wanting. Also, I have the climbing annual form of Black Eyed Susan vine and when I first purchased them, the had buds all over. Well, the foilage is great and green, growing strong, but I hardly have any blooms! These two vines should have blooms all over them. I thought I'd tried it all- but we'll see what messenger does for them. Thanks for starting this thread and sharing this info!

Hi Jeff with Messenger, I think you should give Diane the total hook up on your product since she has really done such a great job and informed us all about it. I'm sure you realize that the folks that are on this site are centers of influence within their own garden clubs and communites, so there will be a huge domino effect here. Thanks.
Susan McCoy
Diane,
Once again, everything is just gorgeous! I am so impressed and can't wait to try my Messenger. Had planned to use it this weekend but we had rain on Saturday and Sunday I just got behind. Will definitely spray this week!
Terrie
I've talked with a sales rep and with Jeff, both with Messengers and I would like to report that they are just about the nicest people ever!!! Since I'm in such a remote area, with regard to shopping, I spend lots of time ordering from the internet for our business, farm, our dogs and our home. With exception of Sojourner's Farms (they sell European styled dog food), and an Australian company, who sells animal products, meds, etc, that the Messenger people I've 'met' are oh so nice and helpful, willing to go the extra mile. Thank you, Diane, for bringing Messenger's to our attention!!! Like everyone, I cannot wait for *the* package to arrive!!!
Diane, I love your before and after photos. I cannot wait to try Messenger's on my Upees!! Your dark EEs are wonderful, what are they???
Hi Sherrylike - The dark EEs are called Black Magic - I bought the bulbs off Ebay early in the Spring and almost died when they showed up - two bulbs about the size of my fingernail. These things will never grow, I thought. As you can see...I was wrong :-)
Diane
Thanks Jeff, it's good to know that the much needed rain did not wash off my 'Messenger'. Now I'll be anxiously waiting to see the results.
Diane, as usual, georgous photos. Thank you for bringing this product to our attention.
I called Eden and added to my order that I placed on Sat. Since it has not been sent yet and since it now is elegible for the discount and and free samples, I will be getting them!
Diane...your before and after photo's are amazing...what an advertisement you would make for the company!!!
Now, Jeff there is an idea for you!!!
Can't wait to get it and to try it out myself....
