How long to get an answer to an email sent to Dave & Co?

Minneapolis, MN(Zone 5a)

Hi all,
I have sent emails to both Dave, directly, and to the web site because I need help with a question regarding my user ID(s). I have not received/heard anything from anyone and it has been over a week. I know that they are busy, but I haven't heard anything at all. I have asked questions via email, previously, and I have received a quick response.

Should I give up or send another email? Even an acknowledgment that the email was received and a quick reply saying that they are too busy to address the issue/question would be nice.
Thanks for any help.
Mike

Send another email. I usually get a quick response even if it isn;t the answer I want. Your email may have been lost... I doubt it was ignored.

The few that I sent were answered within a couple of days. They dont usualy ignore an email even with the low priority ones Ive sent.

I've got it on my list of things to work on; you should have a response from me or Dave tomorrow. The helpdesk queue got a bit overrun with the roll-out of the new features (lots of nice feedback, but it still took a while to dig out from underneath the deluge!)

I worked pretty hard on the queue today, and whittled it down from 50-some messages to 10 as of now. (Of course, by morning it'll probably be back to up 20-some *grin*)

OK, thanks Terry and everyone. I just didn't know if my email had gone through.
Thanks again,
Mike

Maybe an autoresponder would be a good idea for the peak times when there's a backlog. Just something along the lines of "we've received your e-mail, but we're running a little behind".

Oostburg, WI(Zone 5b)

gosh, Kim, you sure think of good ideas!

Treelover is now officially Treelover3 (and I think Dave has vowed to not attempt to do that again anytime soon!)

Just an FYI...if you want to change your username (and especially if you've already contributed comments to the forums, the PDB, GWD, GBW, etc) PLEASE email us before you try to make the switch on your own. Trying to convert an existing username to ANOTHER existing username is pretty messy from what I can tell ;o)

Dave & Terry,
Thank you so much. You have gone above and beyond the call of duty.

This really is THE BEST GARDENING SITE on the internet!

Thanks again for all of your hard work.

I thought I'd always heard you could request a name change but only once. Is that different now? I've always considered changing mine (dummy me picked a name I use for alot of things that aren't "forums") I just can't think of a good name I like so haven't asked yet. Would I be one of those that is less than ideal for a name change at this point?

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Yep. Whatever your new name is, it should be something you really REALLY like ;o)

Well, one glitch I see, is that when I post, I post twice.

Let's see if it happens again when I post this message?

Mike

Edited to say "Yup, it happened again".

That is just plain silly!

Oh no, ALL of my threads have been duplicated, even the threads that I started before my user ID changed. The original thread above is duplicated, too.

Sorry for all of the trouble!
Mike
(this is going to post twice, too).

Well.... it will always get your point acrossed, Tree!!

I'd like to keep the ID that shows "Bloomington, MN" and "zone 4a", if I could, and delete the one that shows Minneapolis.

At least the double posts are not being counted twice in the number of replies!
Thanks,
Mike

Wow - I just noticed that you are two places at the same time! Impressive and silly!

I fixed the double posting.

And, I will never ever again change a username to a different username if the new username already exists. Sorry, it's just too much problems involved.

(not your fault, treelover3)

Dave - thanks for explaining the issue. I think I get it. So if I want to change my name I can, only once, but only because I don't have a second username I already own that I want to "merge".

No merging! The new name must be available - if it was previously registered, then... it can't be used.

got it. thanks!

Oh, Brenda, I'm so glad you asked the question about changing your user name. I did the same thing you did and used my email user name just because that's what I use for everything else. I should have checked out the forums better before I joined but was just too excited when I found DG. Dave, when I pick a new name, do I just email you?

Dave,
Thanks so much! Sorry for all of the troubles this has caused you.

Whew, I'm glad I got my request in, just under the wire, for changing a user name to another existing user name. (c:

I'm so glad to be "treelover3" now.

If you're ever in the Twin Cities, let me know, I'll buy you lunch!
Mike
