Color codes???

Dave since you are making all the great new changes to the DG site I wonder if you could color code the members that are subscribers and the ones that are not so when they email us for trades we would know in an instant what their status is?

I like the idea of being able to tell the difference. I can't begin to count the number of emails I've received and had to go check to be sure I'm not emailing back non members that might just be looking for another email address to sell. Call me paranoid, but I don't like my address getting out if I can help it. When I get emails referring to something I had on here two years ago, or more, I am suspicious.

Brugie ...one of my first trades here as a very green newbie turned out very badly. I didn't know the difference between the two member status' then, but I do know now.:) The person was actualy a subscribed member!
It really hurt my feelings because the person did it intentionally and then sent me a "HaHa Gotcha Note" after the plants were sent. Then they signed me up for every naughty site on the web!
It sure took the fun right out of trading plants and I just don't trade plants and expect anything back now. If I have something nice to trade I send it and if I get something in return, then I count it as a blessing.

When you get an email from a member, it already tells you if they are a subscriber or not. The last line of the email will say "so and so is a subscriber of Dave's Garden" if in fact that is the case.

Just to clarify what Dave said.......if the sender is a SUBSCRIBER it says so after their username at the bottom of the email. If they are not a subscriber it just gives their DG username.

Thanks for asking that question, MsC. I have been going into the membership listings, typing in the name, then looking at their home page. However, this doesn't tell me if they are subscribed or not. Now I know I can look at the bottom of the DG email for that info.

By the way, I trade with non-subscribers, as well, but if I know their status, I know whether they can visit the threads or not. One advantage to looking them up is to find out when they signed up. If the non-subscriber joined the same day I received the email, I'm a bit more cautious, but I usually recommend they subscribe and send them seeds anyway.

Their home page should show the taupe circle if they are a subscriber and not just a member.
