Probably this question has been asked before but... is there any way we can have a FAQ section per forum? In other words, the Brugmansias forum could have their own FAQ section, the Roses forum could have their own section, etc. This would make it easier to organize and find information as the number of forums, subscribers, and collective knowledge at DG grows. FAQ threads should be locked and updateable only by Dave (or perhaps a designated representative for each forum if that is feasible). Viewing of FAQs could be restricted to subscribers - Dave's decision.
What do you think?
FAQ per forum
Could several of us pick the pertinent info out from each FAQ Forum thread and condense it into just one plain answer to the particular question?
It would be a heck of a project but I'd be willing to participate.
A FAQ on propagation,cameras or fruits and nuts etc sounds like a pretty good idea to me, but then I have no idea how it is done.As per Ulrich, it sounds like a lot of work for someone.
I think a FAQ per forum for the very specific ones would be neat, even if it were at first in the form of a list of threads having to do with the questions. I'd be willing to help, too.
I love that idea...and it would keep from having so many repeat questions when we get new subscribers...But could it be made to STAY in the top thread list...rather then automatically get buried ...does anyone know what I am trying to say?? LOL Jo
Perhaps we could pick a question from the present FAQ Forum at random, enter the uncluttered response, label it Answer:, and somehow submit it for approval to the staff who would then remove all the old responding posts and lock it.
Ultimately we would have a plain, straightforward,
forever fully fine FAQ feature.
Edited to mention user-friendly.

Yes, Ulrich, that's what I was thinking too... pick out the relevant questions for each forum and then edit the previous responses into a complete, concise answer. Probably this process would work best if 1, 2, or 3 people from each forum take the lead in organizing the FAQ's and editing the responses. Feedback should be solicited from current forum participants to update and enhance information as needed. I can see how this could become a major project for some forums. And it would also be an ongoing process since nothing is ever set in stone; the FAQs would need to be updated from time to time.
The per-forum FAQs would be easier to use if there were one question/answer per thread. That way the question will be shown on the forum directory display. I think this format would be more user-friendly than creating one giant thread with multiple questions/answers and making the user scroll thru every post to find what they're looking for. It would be great if we could have a FAQ "sub-forum" for each forum that needs a FAQ, and then list one question/answer per thread to make them easy to find at a glance. (By "sub-forum" I mean one that is not listed independently from the main forums list but only as a link at the top of the page in a "main" forum.) I do not know if Dave's software supports that type of structure however.
Seems right about here Dave might be jumping in, eh?
Not a bump, just a nudge ;->
There's some FAQ's being developed in the beta site. Sit tight, Max! :)
Well, well; it's been done even better than I had imagined. Thanks!
