Really Living Now

Tonasket, WA(Zone 5a)

I just wanted to make all of you who don't have veggie gardens very jealous. I just finished my wonderful evening meal. I went out to the garden in the almost 100 degree heat and picked most of my meal.

I think the best was the Chippewa corn, it was absolutely delicious. Then the very large almost a lb. Early Goliath tomato was excellent. Cucumber, Orient Express burpless is so good. Thornless cane blackberries, so large and sweet with yogurt, also fresh peaches from my near neighbor. there was just too much to eat, didn't touch the ground cherries. I am really living now that almost everything is ripe. Donna

sounds YUMMY!

Oh good for you!! There is nothing as satisfying as eating food you grew yourself, picking it just hours or minutes before eating it. Tell me about that Chippewa corn, I might want to try that since we have the same climate. My corn has been Early Sunglow that I plant about June 1, mid June and July 1 for a continuous supply, but the earliest planting is just getting tassles now so maybe I should be trying another variety for earlier eating.

Donna, if you still have the 'Chippewa' corn, can you snap some pictures before you sink your teeth into that next ear? http://plantsdatabase.com/go/49812/index.html

Ditto for the 'Early Goliath' tomatoes: http://plantsdatabase.com/go/31561/index.html

And maybe add a comment with a "thumb's up" or "thumb's down" for each, along with pictures/comments for any other veggies/fruit you're growing this year?

(pretty please???? Just think how much it'll help other gardeners!)
