New Ebay Spoof Attack

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

I just got a letter this morning again trying to get my personal information for Ebay. This time rather than just requesting me to update on their link, The header says "Account Suspension Critical Notice".

The body of the letter states that they suspended my account because it was being accessed by a fraudulent party.
This is a new tact to scare you into using their links to get you to their site. BEWARE!!!!

We have always been told not to give out personal information because of an e-mailed request and this advice doesn't change.

It is also strongly urged to NOT even click on their links. In my simple mind, I see cookies being dropped or some other device which enables these people to access accounts and information about you.

ALWAYS IMMEDIATELY open a separate window and go to either Ebay or PayPal, whichever applies. Click on their security links and report the email. You will be asked to copy the email and send to them

Within minutes of doing this just now, it was confirmed this specific email was a fake. The frauds are stepping up their tactics to unsettle you so you might act without thinking it through.

JUST BEWARE!

Do not even open these things, just forward them immediately to spoof@ebay.com so they can check them out.

Same thing happened to me this week. I had just purchased something. I did give my password but balked at the credit card info. I notified ebay and changed my password. I tell ya, what people wont do to scam a buck.

Gracious. I'm glad you told me about this. I don't understand how some people can sleep at night knowing how they hurt other people.

My wife got the same email last week.
I deleted it without opening it.
