Gotta problem, moving into finished basement in near future. Has a false celotex tiled ceiling and regular fiber glass insulation on top. The Heating and Air Conditioning duct is above the fireglass and rapped. This is 27 years old, the rapping is not in good shape, there are leaks from the duct work and mold has formed in this space mailnly caused by condensation. Have a quote of $13,000 to fix it all, EEK! Has any one had experience with this problem and found a solution?

Eek is right - Ouch! I don't have any answers for you, but encourage you to get it done right the first time. Mold can be really nasty.

Howdy Sparks...

Is this the new house ya'll just bought (DD)? If so, perhaps compensation can be made from the sellers, or was anything like that written into the sales contract?

Wish I could offer a suggestion other than replacing everything. I do know though that the last thing you need to be breathing are mold spores.
