Paging Feature in Forum threads?

Spokane Valley, WA(Zone 5b)

Is it feasible to add a paging preference on our profiles to view either all or a smaller number of posts on threads that we visit, similar to that which is presented for Forum searches?

I access the site from two different computers here at home, one of which is very old, so the paging feature could be quite beneficial as I could view, say, 20 posts at a time on the more lengthy threads.

Wondering if this might be addressed in the Beta version that folks have been testing... *hint* :)

I think what you want is already in 'Preferences' under "How many results to you want to see on each page?
20 results40 results60 results80 results100 results"

Ulrich, it seems that paging preference applies to site searches, as well as to the list of topics in a particular Forum, but it doesn't (at least in my case) apply to the number of individual posts to a given thread. I have a little trouble loading threads that are quite lengthy, whether by number of short posts or ones with a few very long ones. Maybe it's just this old PC? :)

It'd be neat if the read posts in a thread could be compressed somehow, and only the unread posts would show up expanded. It would take less time to load only the new posts.

That's why I try to keep my threads to a limited number of lines. Too bad I can't make it to the 'Gasbags Court' that way.

Gardenwife, I'm not sure I would want any of the posts compressed, as I tend to skim read a bit back and forth at times to capture content. But if we could then expand the already viewed posts... I like that. :)

LOL at Ulrich... afraid to become a member of the Court? ;)

I'm also curious about when the next "gasbag" post will be presented... which is completely off topic here and not that I will ever make it... lol

What I'm talking about would be like folder view in Windows Explorer, where you can "hide" the view of subfolders, or click next to one and view the "hidden" folders. You'd click the "hidden" posts and they'd expand for view. I don't know if this is possible, and I'm not the programmer...Just a wish list kind of thing! :)
