Subscriber Posting Counter

Has this ever been tried? I think it would be interesting to know how active a subscriber is in Forums, perhaps by putting their current posting count on their profile page if not alongside each post. :)

I have often wondered just what the rather small percentage of us members piping up in forums might be.

Wondering if this might also be addressed in the Beta version that folks are currently testing... *hint* :)

I hope that Dave never does this! I belong to another forum that has the number of posts listed, and it makes me post less, not more. On the other hand, I've seen people who post constantly there, even when they don't really have anything to say, just to get their count higher.

I've seen posting races on other sites as well, Ronna, and it certainly can disguise the contributions of a member based on quality of posts. That's why I also suggested a posting count on the profile; it would be available to those interested, but not jumping right out in Forums to encourage any silly races.

I do like like the fact that I can visit a member's profile to see the threads they have started and/or their contributions to the PDB, especially when I've already found their posts useful. :)

Every once in a while Dave runs the stats and announces the new "gasbag court". (Do a search for "gasbag" and you'll find the pertinent threads.) I personally think it's more fun to just periodically know who is queen (we've never had a king) gasbag, and who's in line for the throne...

Hey, I figure this: I was never Homecoming or Prom Queen, and I'm sure not the Queen of Clean, so I'll accept placement in Queen Gasbag's court with the same smile I accept the ribbing it generates! ROTF!
