This is what the buds look like now. I posted them first on July 16th as my first buds and boy have they grown.
Waiting on blooms
Won't be much longer. I have a very short memory. Will this be your very first brug blooms?
Your memory isnt so short Brugie because yes these will be my very first ever blooms. This is Charles Grimaldi and actualy the one I really wanted to see first. So Im very very happy.
Just wait until you smell this one. It is awesome and the blooms are nice and big and last really well for me in Iowa. The first smell in the evening will have you addicted to brugs. I wish I could just sit in a circle of them. I'm still hoping someone will learn how to capture the fragrance into a room spray or fragrance oil.
Thats what Im really waiting for, besides seeing the bloom. I hear everyone talking about sitting outside and enjoying how good they smell and I admit, I was envious and didnt even know what I was missing. LOL.
Thanks to you guys for loving these plants so much that you take the time, energy and funds to keep them going so someone like me could enjoy them too.
(((((Nat)))))
Nat, you will do the same thing when you have a lot of them. Sharing is half the fun of raising them. Some of us old timers are looking forward to the newer growers to take off some of the burden though. It really is a big job cutting, wrapping, labeling, and shipping. We have learned that it isn't smart to cut a bunch of kinds and put in a bucket of water together, so that makes it a longer process to get packages ready to mail.
It is really great to see new growers get excited about their brugs.
Woops I was wondering if that would happen, Sorry Brugie, Im Janet, was trying to give hugs to Natalyn because she is the one who gave these to me.
Ive seen what you guys go thru, alot of work. Just putting a couple of boxes of perenials makes me worry I cant imagine sending out the volumes Ive seen go here, wowsers. I figured if I can get these to bloom and overwinte them without too much hardship Ill be ready for some more that I love(those long tendrils are to die for) but I want to make sure I can take care of these first.
I do have a cutting from my trip to Fla. and it rooted, actualy have several cuttings but this one looked wonderful. Most likely its the same as one of the two I have but thats ok. Ive been talking to friends around here and the ones with a green thumb will most likely get a neat X-mas present from me this year. These are very unique for this area so it should be alot of fun.
Sorry. It was just that Nat was so much quicker to write. LOL. Great idea for Christmas. You have such a great advantage with the warmer zone. Boy, would I like to move to Northern Arkansas. Still a little winter, but not long lasting. Now, I have to go eat something before I fall on my face.
Forgot...was going to say "talk to you later, Janet".

LOL, GO EAT!!
Janet, Brugie is correct - - you will really like this brug. I think it has one of the best scents. And I love how the colors vary depending on the temps - - from pale yellow to deep orange. Nat
Getting anxious to see them now.

Nice bloom pictures.
Thanks Nat, these are your babies as you know. I hope I did ya proud.
Brugie, Thank you, obviously they are my first. LOL
So excited about this Im trying to think of all the people I want to see this. Mom gets the first call.
You did good, Janet. I feel like I should be passing out cigars!
Dravencat, isn't it exciting! When I saw my first real brug blooming, I was excited too.
Funny thing though, the excitement hasn't worn off yet. Welcome to the brug addicted.
Linda
Now that is a pretty bloom! Welcome to our club!
much more orange now, the tendrils dropped to the sides instead of sticking straight up. Its beautiful.
Our club becomes larger and larger lol!
I had visitors today, dravencat. They said exactly what you had said: Now we know, why you are so crazy about these plants!
LOL Monika. A few months back I went to a park that also has a huge garden. I went into the visitors center to use the restrooms and get cool(hot as all get out that day), I picked up thier summer schedule and they had a pic of a brug flower on it. I got so excited and practicaly drooled on the counter as I asked if they really had them and when would they be on display. LOL I was a sad sight. They informed me of the stuff I knew( when they should bloom, poisonous ect.) but couldnt tell me when I could come see them. Sigh. I had to wait for mine to grow up. But I think it was better that I waited as I kept going back outside just to watch it "be" and think how lucky I was to have found DG and everyone here.
Ahh that is so nice Dravencat.
Checking in from Boston this weekend, where we attended a cousin's wedding reception........HAD to see your Brug in bloom.........it's gorgeous!!
