Favorite Comic Strip?

Victoria, TX(Zone 9b)

:) I get a real joy out of reading a comic strip daily on my homepage website. It's never anything worth rolling around laughing over, but I usually get a small chuckle out of "checking out the comics".

So who's your favorite? I can't go a day without seeing and reading Garfield. That writer really hits my funny bone, as I am like John, only I'm owned by two cats instead of one. When Garfield and Odie talk, I swear that's what my puppy Allie is telling cat Hobbs on a daily basis. :)

What comic strip do you like the best?

Lamar, AR(Zone 7a)

I dont read the comics.

Once upon a time I did read them, so I guess I'll choose Dagwood?. I really like the way the wife and him was clashing in some way :D

Dilbert and Garfield! I used to get Rose is a Rose but not anymore. :( I liked it too.

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

I have some classic out of print Rose is Rose books. Back when I first fell in love with the strip, I bought a couple and learned there were several that came out before them. I e-mailed Pat Brady and -- miracle of miracles -- he knew someone at United Media who had a few copies of his old books around still. The result was, I was able to buy them at their original cover prices! I was thrilled, just love them.

I was enjoying Get Fuzzy each morning and then a few month's ago the local newspaper took a customer vote and got rid of the comics that came in the lowest. Get Fuzzy did not fare well. I geuss alot of people just don't Get It!

Frankay, your 3-decade old art is fantastic. I also have done some smaller things, copying the drawing from comic cover pages. I enjoyed doing that. I always failed to give a proper shape to Casper or a Tweety. I found them so difficult. No curve would match the original! They were so unique. I have done many of the characters that were on in my time, about the same time as Frankay. Now it is my kids' time to draw their famous characters .. Mickey and Minnie.. Pokemon..

New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)

Dublin, OH(Zone 5a)

Of course, Peanuts! Oh, I feel guilty not mentioning it first before my *other* favorite.

Crossville, TN

Darius....I know you were too young to vote back then (for Ike), but Pogo ran for president...and he ALMOST got elected....LOL

I lived in Richmond, VA at that time and just before the Tobacco Festival Parade...kids in cars were running up and down Broad Street chanting "I GO POGO. " It seems that Ike was due to make a vote-for-me speech about that same time. Well, the platform fell just as Ike got off it....So much for the Republican Platform that year!! LOL Jo
