Welcome back Scoot!!! Gosh! That thing looks great!!
Congratulations on your bud Renee!! How exciting for you guys!
Sanguinea Seedlings in Wisconsin ..........
Nice Scooterbug!!! Welcome back...
:o)
Julie
Almost there, so exciting, I cannot wait, good luck!!!
Very Nice, I can't wait to see tomorrow's picture.
Ooooh!! How neat Scoot!! You should be proud!
Was I surprised . I expected red.
Guess I had tunnel vision because I know there are yellows too. Probably got the idea from the picture on eBay where I purchased the seeds.
It's a darling flower and like the foliage, it is so different.
I think I'll take cuttings this year instead of starting seeds. One less tray to mess with.
Looks like it will be red, to me. Tomorrow morning you might be surprised all over again.
Ain't this stuff fun Brugie ?
That's what I was thinking but I don't know the life span of these blooms.
I just went out and checked . No change yet ;'(
*No fragrance either*
Well congrats, Scoot! Ya done good! I don't think a sang would ever be my favorite (good thing since they wouldn't thrive here), but its quite interesting looking...thanks for sharing your success with us :)
Very pretty, Scooterbug. I wish I could grow these.
Looks pretty yellow to me. I hope it stays that way. Congrats.
The red blush is no longer evident. She is also starting to look soft , I expect tomorrow to be 'FINIS'
Now, where is Renee so we can start hounding her ,....... LOL
This has been a wonderful experience that I have enjoyed sharing with all my good friends.

Congrats!!!
its a great feeling ,HUH?
scooterbug, you mean if I could find one of those plants it would be safe to plant outside, permanantly?
guess you can tell I am a newbie, never heard of planting zones befor, now that is all I look for, but do have room inside for potted plants.
Scooter, that is really really kewl looking! Keep me in mind if you ever give a cutting or some seed away!
My Isabella X's and the Suave X (that I used to refer to as Karyn Riggs) have buds on them. I can't wait to see what color they are! If they are unique, maybe we can work out a trade!
Oh, BTW - guess what I saw at the store the other day? Bags of Key Limes! Unfortunately it was in the 90's and way to warm to bake a pie! Their timing at the grocery stores here is unbelievable - they assume since the store is air conditioned (and freeeeeeeezin') that everyone must have A/C. NOT!
kareoke,
.................These are tropical plants from the rainforests. They will 'croak' if they freeze or frost , depending on where you live. You would have to overwinter them in your house.
Karrie,
...............Get the KeyLimes , ,juice them and save about 1 Tbl grated zest also and freeze it. Put the zest in a baggie and squeeze all the air out then wrap it baggie and all in foil or sumpin , to keep air out . It should hold for a few weeks ???
Sang cuttings are notoriously known for NOT rooting easily ,if at all . I will try to remember if I chop on one of them .The plants are med tall and narrow so the whole plant can easily come in .
Oh my goodness Scoot - I've been away and nearly missed it all!! Congratulations!! My sang has grown about 2 more feet since I last posted and has more buds (the other small ones dropped off)! I am going away tomorrow for 3 weeks and hopefully when I get back there will be some more progress (that is if my stepson remembers to water!!).
Sue
Prudence,
THNX and good luck with your Sanguinea. I don't know if I could stand being away from them as often. I wish you nothing but happy news when you return home.
Safe Journey,
Shirley
WOW Scoot !!!! What a time to have 'puter problems'-hey? All your plants are probably puttin on a show; and your great camera is all set to capture the beauty and NO 'puter' for 10 days??? :( That must have been maddening for ya. So glad you're back online and sharing your Sang experience w/ everyone (esp. me:) I was so frustrated because I just couldn't figure out where the buds would emerge from. Thanks to you....THAT whole thing ended.
Your Sang turned out terriffic!!!! And I was happy to see that you're going to take some cuttings for 2005. Did you see the 'full length' pic I posted? The mother plant didn't do anything last year so I figured I'd take the cuts above the "Y" to keep the size down. So far...it has worked. Now the challenge is to keep the buds from falling.
Good Job, girl !!
Took this pic this morning. It sure is taking its time opening
Looking good Ruby, Ya done good girl ! I hope it is red .
One of mine just poked through the calyx , so i'll have a few days yet. The other plant still has a bud growing on it too.
All those bazillion teenie buds pop up and drop off but these two looked like good ones from the get-go just like yours did.
Keeping my fingers crossed for your teeny-weenie buds to mature. With all this cooler weather we may get lucky???
Met a professional grower from Twin Lakes yesterday at the Carlin trade show. She wants to see your Brugs....first hand??? Wouldn't it be cool if she decided to try growing a few for retail sales???? Maybe the two of you could work out some sort of arrangement for you to house a few of your bigger brugs for the winter in one of her greenhouses???? Not a bad deal if all it took was a few brug cuttings to get her started????
No pic today. The bud still hasn't opend :(
Hmmmm ! The only one I know of is The Hosta House here in TL. They shut down their GH's for the winter.
Hi Scoot..........I wish I could recall her name??? I had a paper with her info written on it but seem to have misplaced it. Duh !
I'll do a thorough look through all the pamphlets and books I got from the show and get back to you if I find it.
Well....Its looking like the Sang will have to come back inside for a few days. It just doesn't like all the heat. Lost 2 more buds today.....Bummer
I am still waiting on this one to open. Maybe tomorrow-hey???
Wowsers.............that looks like it is going to be a beaut. I hope that bud stays on. My HG bud that was out of the calyx fell today. I told you, that brug is going to be composted.
Dog-gonnit, Shirley !!! Maybe you could glue the thing back onto the plant??? Seriously.....What do you think is the cause for all this bud dropping on that thing??? Is it heat or humidity intolerance??? Please don't compost it, yet ? Let's give it one more chance to do its thing-OK?
HEY.....While I'm at it..................
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU........HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU....HAPPY BIRTHDAY
DEAR BRUGIE......HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU !!!!!
LOVE YA.................... :)
Thanks Renee. I wish I did know why buds drop. I'd be out there fixing the problem if it were fixable. LOL!
I'm so tickled for you all that can get sangs to bloom. I hope it isn't too hot next year for them. We have had some great temps this year for plants that like it cooler.
Yup, I believe it's a once in a lifetime happening for us in this part of the country.
I'm rooting for you, Scoot !!! And am keeping my fingers crossed for your newest little gem to make it. (toes too :) ) I have to agree.....this has been an unusual year as far as the weather goes. I tried Everything I could think of to get this plant to produce last year w/o any results. This year....the plant was on its own.
The first thing I did this morning was to see if the flower was opened or on the ground like some of the other buds. HOOOOORAY !!! FINALLY.
