A new forum about places?

Now DG has quite a diversified member-lot. They sometimes post pictures taken of various countries and their cultures, also whlie they travel. Isn't a separate forum needed for such pictures so that they can be in one place other than the huge category of "photos"? Just a passing thought.

Pocola, OK(Zone 7a)

That has crossed my mind also. That we really need a separate forum for places. I'm not sure "places" is the right title though. Maybe.

Wouldn't Parking Lot fit the bill? I started a thread about where people lived last year and non-subscribers can't see the first posts in there either

If that forum is found really necessary (that is the prime point) a suitable name can be decided later. It can also be made only for subscribers.

Sorry Dinu, mea culpa, I think I didn't say what I meant very well, there is a forum already in existance called the Parking Lot it is a private forum for subscribers eyes only.

Learnt a new word today! Just copying it for others' benefit.

Definition of mea culpa

mea culpa may-uh-KOOL-puh or may-ah-KOOL-pah (the "OO" as in "wool") (noun) - A formal acknowledgment of personal fault or error.

"While the company's CEO offered his mea culpa at the meeting, very few of the stockholders accepted it."

Meaning "through my fault" in Latin, "mea culpa" comes from a prayer of confession in the Catholic Church. While said by itself it's an exclamation of apology or remorse ("It was my fault" or "I apologize"), it's also a noun -- A newspaper might issue a mea culpa for printing inaccurate information, or a politician might give a speech making mea culpas for past wrongdoings. The term is one of many English terms that derive from the Latin "culpa," meaning "guilt," including "culpable" and "culprit."

Yes, I had understood your point Baa. But my query is, is an exclusive forum necessary for such things? I'm not a full-time frequenter to Parking Lot so I don't know what exactly is happening there. If that is serving the purpose, well and good.

From my own personal point of view, I'm not entirely comfortable sharing information about areas where I live and frequent that can be viewed by any passing surfer. I spent a couple of years being chased across the internet by a certain type of group who, without any given information other than a nearby city, these people were mentioning places very close to where I lived in private emails (none of which I answered) this was very worrying. OK not necessarily a common occurance but I'm very shy of giving out any personal or near personal information now where just anyone can view it.

Yes that can be a problem, even a stray incident like that can be worrying. There was a young man here (before the Internet days, of course) who used to mention names of relatives and neighbours and some true little stories. No one remembered him. The purpose was to ask money! He was kept at bay and he never turned up again.
