Drying Herbs & Flowers

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

Hi Dave - I was wondering if we could possibly start a forum on drying herbs, such as "how to", and flowers that are edible as well. Last year I grew chamomile for the first time, and couldn't find any answers on the internet on how to do it. "dry flowers as in petals and the middle of it or WHAT"? I didn't want to make something poison. So I let them go to waste.

There are many processes (as canning) that preserve what we have made, should we choose to, and I think it would be a great idea if we had a forum to share the drying info. Many flowers, herbs & plants are dried later to use medicinally.

I'd love to hear if others would like to know the same thing, whether a forum like this is in warrant, and if some of you have the same questions about drying your herbs, flowers & plants.

Hey - If we could change the name of the canning forum to include drying, I'd be happy. Kill many birds with one stone, can we?

Karrie, maybe just posting in the "Canning and Preserving Forum" might suffice? After all, drying flowers IS preserving!
