Why, all of the sudden did my location appear on my homepage and below my name on posts. I had left it blank intentionally for security reasons! I also stopped receiving the newsletter. I have gone back and changed my preferences accordingly, but I'm wondering how and why this happened. I was out of town for several weeks and just today noticed this. Thank in advance for your response.

That's a good question! If your location is empty, then when you log in the system does ask for your zipcode so we can know where you're coming from. Do you think you might have given it your zipcode at some point?

(The feature is relatively new and was asked for by a severely large amount of people so we can know where everyone is from. There was a big thread about it in this forum some time ago.)

Well, I guess it is my fault. It asked for my zipcode when I returned from vacation, but it shouldn't have changed my preferences...I personally don't want my exact location known, as I stated earlier, for safety reasons.

When it asked for your zipcode its full intention (and I think it says this) is that it'll be information for all to see). In the future, don't give any info like that and if in doubt, ask. :)
