what an awesome DH I have! My DH Jim got back yesterday from 5 days away - I had sent him, with his 73 yr old father , to the All Star Game in Houston for his 40th BD. I told him when he left, just get me a picture of Cal Ripken, Jr. That's all I wanted.
So during his time there, he'd call me from the park and tell me what was going on (did you know there is a 5 sec delay from what actually happens to when you see/hear it on TV?). Anyway, I always asked him "Have you see Cal"? He kept saying he was looking for him.
So fast forward to last night when he's passing out all the goodies to the kids and now it's my turn. I had also told him a t-shirt would be cool, so I'm figuring that's all I'm getting (which was perfectly fine, cause I just wanted him home!). So I do get the t-shirt and then he says:
"Cost for cab fare to visit the FanFest another day: $40
Entrance fee for another day at FanFest: $15
Waiting in line two & a half hours: $0
Getting Cal Ripken to write a personal note to my wife in his new book: Priceless
I couldn't believe it! I had a personal note from Cal in a book AND we had it all on video! I started balling my eyes out! I couldn't believe he went to all that trouble - gave up visiting the space center - to stand in line to meet Cal!!! I was half joking when I told him what to get me - I never thought he'd see him let alone get close enough to talk to him and get an autograph!! A funny little add-on to this is while he was standing getting Cal's signature, there was a commotion off to the side and Former President Bush comes strolling up behind the table (3 feet in front of my husband) and starts chatting with Cal & his brother. Jim got it all on video - pretty cool - even if I am a Democrat.
