Castro Valley, CA(Zone 9a)

gumla, I came to California with my Parents and Sister in 1960, I did not speak a word of English at the time, being enrolled in 7th grade, all the kids there were all teaching me words and proper prononciations, within a short time I became very Americanized! Bologna sandwitches, Hamburgers and Macaroni & cheese quickly became my new favorites!

Mirpur (A.K), Pakistan(Zone 9b)

thats great, very interesting , nothing now a word of english but now you are master of this language.Actually I observed Americans are very helping and caring. You are lucky you have good company there and here Imean in DG.

Castro Valley, CA(Zone 9a)

You're right! I'm looking forward to hearing more, I love your pictures of where you live, it makes you closer to us here, and opens one's eyes to other cultures.

Truth is this you all are lovely and caring, when a person is good himself, then he thinks every one is good.Same like this you all are good and think other all are same like you. I dont know I am better ambassador for Pakistan or for peace.
But I know one thing I am happy here , I mean in DG with all of you.

Gordonville, TX(Zone 7b)

Thanks, Kaleem! Keep them coming. Yes, you ARE a wonderful ambassador for your country and peace. I am glad that you are pleased with DG. There is much more than gardening to be learned here. :)

Kaleem, did everyone hide their badges in their pockets so we wouldn't recognize them? *wink*

I'm just teasing you a little; I imagine the badges get in the way when working at the computer. :)

I really enjoy seeing the different photos you've shared in this thread, so I have it on my 'watch list' now.

You're an engineer, right? What do you work on/design?

Gordonville, TX(Zone 7b)

TuttiFrutti, gumla, this is my favorite thread. The photos and conversation with us are priceless.

Mirpur (A.K), Pakistan(Zone 9b)

My friends are working in Honda car's show room. On their badges only Honda is written, Thankyou for liking pictures.

Kaleem,

Thank you for not being offended at my little tease. Here in the States, many folks must wear identification badges at their workplace, and often they wear them on long ribbons or 'necklaces' like those shown in the pics. :)

So you're not 'just' an electronics engineer but a manager? That's quite an accomplishment, Kaleem. Congratulations!

Kaleem, we have spoken on your recipe threas, but I wanted to formally WELCOME you to Dave's Garden. I can say I am member no 444, and look how it has grown.
I am very happy to see members from other countries to share their garden and experiences with us, and also to share their culture.
I am curious what does your name "gumlla" mean? a flower in your native language maybe?
and, are you one of the people in the above photo?

I look forward to reading your posts and seeing your photos.

cheers

Gordonville, TX(Zone 7b)

gumlla, are these men in sales?

pebble, did you join DG while in Turkey? Are you an expatriot there?

The International aspect of DG has been a real bonus for me.

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

Imway, I joined while still living in Vancouver, and had you been around when we were struggling with a decision about moving, you too may have been an integral part of the decision making process.......it was quite an ordeal.....

Gordonville, TX(Zone 7b)

Heading towards something totally different can be daunting but, once that decision is made...exciting! I know about that ordeal, too. Been there, done that. Much ancient history in that part of the world. I envy you.

I am behind the camera as I am not working there, I am working in another company , You can see me , my wife and my son in the photo forum topic of the thread is "My son wants to listen you ". That one is a funny style , but I love my son tomuch as you all love your kids. according to Gardenwife , internet is the best invention through we can see and talk to each other from all over the world.
Gumlla mean " plant pot " (container).

imway2dumb

These are in services deptt. , there is no uniforn in sales, peon of Honda showroon insisted me to take his picture on that day , here is his picture.

Thank you.

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

gumlla, I will go find your photo, I remember seeing one of your son....but not his mom and dad...

Nice to know what I can ask for if ever I find myself in Pakistan looking for a flower pot - lol

Gordonville, TX(Zone 7b)

Kaleem, I have noticed that Toyota pickups are common in many parts of the world. Is that true in Pakistan as well?

Palo Cedro, CA(Zone 8a)

Oh Kaleen, you are a breath of fresh air. That is how we make world peace - one person at a time. I lived overseas in the Far and Middle east through the '80's and 90's and I met so many wonderful people. I am now kept home in Northern California due to my ill widowed mother. I miss the travel and the wonderful people I meet and the fascinating cultures to learn about. Thank you so much for reminding me of my wonderful adventures abroad and reminding me of my wonderful Pakistani friends, the Mirza's in Saudi Arabia! Your photos are wonderful! I look forward to following along as you get to know the great people converging here at DavesGarden of Life. Bless you. Lena
