Google ads

when did the google ads start in the PDB ?
& is there a way we can get rid of them ?
or are we stuck with them ?

Dick, on your preferences page: http://davesgarden.com/prefs/preferences.php (or you can find it in the "About You" section in the right-hand column), you'll find two checkboxes - one is to opt in/out of receiving the newsletter; the other is to choose whether or not to see the Google ads.

And in case anyone is wondering, non-subscribed members aren't given the option of turning them on/off; only subscribed members. (We figure if you pay to support the site, seeing the ads should be your choice...)

I have the ads turned on because they are not obtrusive and occasionally they are for something that I am interested in.

I have a question for you Terry. Can non-subscribers see the post you just made? I had heard that non-subscribers (members only who don't pay) can only see the first post of each thread. Is it different for this forum?

the ads only started a cpl of days ago
& the box has NEVER been checked
now i can't get rid of them
i checked on then off & they still are there ???
i don't like them

There are some forums that non-subscribers can't see at all (not even the first post); the DG forum is one of them.

Most forums are available to non-subscribers to browse and look at the first post. Some forums - the PDB picture forum, the voting booth (the responses are a forum of sorts), and the FAQs - can be read and replied to by anyone.

Strever make sure you are signed into the database. If your not you will still see the ads.
