Public Gardens

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

Where have you been to visit beautiful Gardens or Parks open to the public?

Paris, TX(Zone 8a)

The only one I've been to are the botanical gardens in St. Louis. Oh, I forgot Moody Gardens in Galveston. And lots of Rain Forest exhibits in zoos. I guess I HAVE been to more than one. lol

Hughesville, MO(Zone 5a)

I've been a volunteer at Powell Gardens, Lone Jack, Missouri for about 7 years now. It is just 30 miles west of Kansas City, MO. A fabulous botanical garden which was just opened in about 1986. The have been such advances and expansions that I can't even fathom how it has all taken place. There are over 100 volunteers that I know of. Probably more like 200 by now. The staff is the most friendly giving group of people to be found anywhere. It is like a free college education with all the lab materials furnished free and there is no such thing as a failing grade.

Long Beach, CA(Zone 10b)

The Huntington Library and Gardens in San Marino/Pasadena (great plant sale) and Descanso Gardens in La Canada, CA are my local favorites.
Also, the missions in California all have very wonderful and diverse gardens. San Fenando has loads of roses while San Gabriel, San Juan Capistrano have very cool succulents and cactii. I love every mission garden I have been to.
