1) Drive, a lot!
Things to do on a Gardening Trek
Shamefully I look at people's yards and decide where they should put a water garden or water feature.
2) Stop and visit with people along the way (if you are driving back through the Columbus area, please give me a call and we can meet!
How in the world did he climb all the way up there and not ever lose that cap? The guy is in amazing condition!!!!
Amazing condition?? Nah, I think I'm just too old to know any better Elena!
My goodness Lupinelover, if only I woulda had a way of checkin my email before I left...I shore would've loved to have stopped in for a visit with ya! They'll be another opportunity I hope, and I'll be sure to let ya know when I'm comin thru Columbus!
TC...
TC....you're my kinda guy!!! Now where's all them pics Carla keeps saying you took?!!!!
That's no garden, Blooms.
That is a FOREST!!!!!
Oh, yeah! That's Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Newark, Ohio. We stopped there on the way to Dawe's. Do you or Carla have a shot of "Little Victims" sculpture?
Oh, THAT'S the picture you took inside the ice tea pitcher! I never saw it until just now...That turned out really cool.
Yes, that's "Little Victims". I just love that stone.
Isn't the iced tea one strange lookin gw? I thought it turned out cool too.
TC...
Yes, I was trying to figure out what vantage point you'd been at when you shot it. I recognized the patio umbrella, but it looked like you were viewing through the table hole or something. Slowly, it occurred to me it was a reflection on the ice tea. Neat shot!
Keep 'em coming!! Wonderful. I could tell that was a reflection of leaves but had no idea what it was. Great eye!
DCat - I don't know what that "thing" is but I sure wouldn't be getting very close to it.
I love the old cemetary pics. I love reading 'stones and seeing how long (or short) someone lived and the epitaphs that are inscribed. We sure don't put up statues and monuments these days like they did in years gone by. What will be there for future generations to see I wonder?
Ohhhhh....so warm and cuddly looking. That's a nice kitty me thinks! What a golden glow to that kitty....nice pic Carla.
DC - is that a 'walking stick' insect? I've never looked at one that close, it could be. great thread. much fun here.
I just love the bottle tree garden. I can just imagine how beautiful it is when the sun shines through all of those bottles. That is a work of art.
Tigger's lonely...His sister DeeDee snuck out the door almost two weeks ago and has not been seen since. :( He's a bengal cat, and really does have a golden glow - the tips of his hair are gold. He's just gorgeous, and sooo friendly, especially with his best buddy missing. We so hope she turns back up!
I have no clue what that bug is but it does look like a walking stick, Ive never seen one of those either at least that I know of.The kids found this on the beach and we had a flashlight on it so we could get this pic, go figure the kids could find this in the dark on an almost deserted beach but cant seem to find the broom, vacuum cleaner, scrubby brush for the toilet...........lol
TC- I bought that hat on the way to Fla. so I could use it to garden in, LOL, it was great to have at the beach too.
Tigger is probably the most vocal cat I've ever heard. I wish I had a recording of his voice. His mew doesn't compare to any other mewings (is "mewings" a word?). I wonder if you could get a digital recording of his mew and post it up on your Website gw? Just a thought...
In Felder Rushing's new book Tough Plants for Northern Gardens he has a photo of Silica transparencii.(ie, Bottle Tree)
The caption reads:
"Orginating in ancient Arabia, this rare but sturdy specimen migrated from rural Southern gardens to create a dazzling year-round focal point that is close to zero-maintenance perfection, while being whimsical, daring, and artistic. Similar to 'Easter Egg' shrubs and ornaments hanging from holes punched in ears."
TC...
That's so funny...Felder's a real card. I'd like to meet him some day. Hey, did I tell you Howie and I will be in Pittsburgh October 16-17? Are you anywhere near there? We're getting together there with some folks at a weight-loss support site we visit.
Why yes I am near Pittsburgh gw, I'm only an hour or so north of the Burgh.
TC...
You're sure up late. We can tell you don't have any classes!
I may get to sleep before you this night, TC.
That you have! I didn't see you doin' any weedin', though. ;)
He was too busy sneaking around in the bushes.
Thanks for sharing you pictures. I really enjoyed them.
