Do you have an unfinished furniture store in your area? We have one here called the Mill Store. It sells all sorts of unfinished & finished furniture. I got a patio set a couple years ago made of pine but stained to look like teak.

Our grocery store, Winn Dixie, has decent looking ones for about $60. Also, if you have Big Lots there, they have some good deals sometimes.

I posted in the garden talk forum, but for simple, easy, and quick bench; use 2 tree stumps, same size and make sure they are level on top and bottom and lay boards across the top and screw the boards down into the top of the stump. Depending how long of boards you use depends how far apart you set the tree stumps

Hi Blau!
There is a BigLots in Poughkeepsie, and maybe even closer -- go to biglots.com and put your zip code in (left column).

I would go there first; I don't think they have the same products everywhere across the nation, but here I have seen garden benches and a wonderful wicker set (settee, chair, some kind of table), other kinds of tile-top small tables for outdoors, etc. Also 'matchstick' roll-down blinds I bought to suspend from the patio cover for shade on specific sitting spots.

Have fun! ~'spin!~

Years ago I saw a beautiful bench made out of an old crib. I have always wanted to do this, just never came across any old cribs that appealed to me. Here are some links that will give you an idea of what they are and how to make one.

I think I have another page with details, I can find it for you if the 2 above are not helpful enough.
