Photo sizing problem

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Hey, Dave... I just posted a couple of photos in the photo forum, and when I looked at them, they are enormous! I had sized them (I thought) properly... even cropped the one of the lady's slipper... but they are really too big to be viewed. What happened, and/or, whay should I have done? Thanks, darius

Darius,

Somehow these images are indeed massive. Are you sure you uploaded the correct one?

I don't do any processing on the main image at all - so what you see is what you uploaded. I only process the thumbnail, and that leaves the big one alone.

Puzzled,

Dave, I will check again, but I scanned them into Photoshop, cropped, saved as a Mac JPEG file, which your system won't accept. Then used Graphic Converter to change them as JPG files. I am puzzled also, as the photos I posted of my wolf gourds were done the same way, and they looked fine.

It's very puzzling. Can you E-mail me the image (the same image that you used to upload to the photos forum)?

I can take a look at the image file and see if there might be a bug in my scripts with this type of image.

Dave... Found the problem, sorta. Somehow Graphic Converter made the pictures huge, and I failed to notice the view was just 24%, not 100%! I have re-scaled them, but cannot find out how to replace the pics I posted with the smaller ones. I looked at the originals of the first photos I posted and I still have the original Photoshop JPEG files, along with the Graphic Converter JPG files, but these last photos don't. Also, I noticed that the files are 300 dpi, not the 75 dpi minimum for screen resolution. Maybe that's why the files were so large?

Darius,

I fixed the images in the photos forum for you.

The DPI causes a larger file, in the scanning programs I have used. I'd recommend sticking with 75 DPI. :)

Dave,is that why some of my photos are large too?
I don't use a Mac...but you've had to work on some of my photos in the past.

Melody,

Your problem is different... it was a mishandling of the image on the server's part. I fixed your image problem (as far as I know).

Dave
