Oooh....I like that idea!!

Lenexa, KS(Zone 6a)

Bump.......

I'm collecting seeds right now and searching for new things for next year and I sure keep wishing there was a way to tag a PDB entry I see to my Wish List---especially when I'm viewing the newsletter or PDB Photos Forum. Sure would be a nice way to create a shopping list. Anyone else think this would be a nice feature?

I've said on the past threads along these lines that I would love it . . . Add to journal, Add to trade list, or Add to want list (which is the trade list, right?) . . . either way would be fabulous. Since we can copy stuff back and forth from the journal to the trade list, it's all the same to me! It would be a great time saver.

The less time I spend journaling, the more time I have for the pdb . . .

Dave, I *promise* I didn't put these people up to asking for this!!!! (snicker...when we were working on the Garden Bookworm, I made a comment that "it sure would be nice if you could go through and add books to your 'want' list and print it off for family members who need a hint about what you'd like, or to take to the library or bookstore...."

Having a feature like this for the PDB to help populate your journal or tradelist would be VERY cool (and would even help all of us who struggle with spelling, or who have botanical-name-phobia ;o)

This is a good idea; that would be great.

Alright, it looks like a lot of people want it, so it'll get done. I'll add it to the TODO!

Hey all right! I just got thru making a post to the journal thread and "hinted" to how cool it'd be to be able to tick a box (or button) to populate your journal and/or trade list. Hadn't gotten as far as thinking about the 'want list' feature!

How very cool is this huh?!
You guys are already ON it! (shoulda known!)

Love this site....

WooHoo....boy, is my want list gonna get long now....

Cincinnati, OH(Zone 6a)

I really hate to ask this, but where IS the want list?

Lenexa, KS(Zone 6a)

Mary - go to the Trading Tab at top of page and click on Your Trade Lists. There is a Wanted category for you to enter in items that you are searching for or have on your wish list.

Cincinnati, OH(Zone 6a)

Thank you, langbr but I'm not seeing the Wanted category. Is it somewhere on the main page?

Pocola, OK(Zone 7a)

You should have some categories of plants on your "Manage your trade lists" page. You will have click on the proper category link of the plant that you want to add. For instance....... let's say that the plant you want is a perennial and you woudn't mind someone sending you seeds to this plant to help you get it. You would go to the Category "Seeds" and click on the "Perennials" link. On that page you would click on the link "Add a new item under this category". That page asks you a series of questions about the plant you are entering and at the bottom of these questions is one that asks you "What is the status of this item?". That is where you will find the "Wanted" category or choice.

Cincinnati, OH(Zone 6a)

I see it now, thank you cherishlife! I was trying to organize my want list a few weeks ago - just so I could prioritize my own buying - and coundn't figure out how to do it.

hmmm, yes, I do see how a button in the PDB would be very much easier!

Lenexa, KS(Zone 6a)

The FAQ's under each tab (Forums, Journal, Trading, etc) were re-written with the re-design of DG a couple of months ago. They are pretty good at giving one an overall understanding of the feature and gives step-by-step "how to's" for the most common tasks.

My apologies for not being clearer Mary, and 'YES' the wanted button in the PDB is a really cool idea that would really tie together the PDB, Journal and Trade Lists completely.

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

I like the idea of a "wanted" button, as well as a "Have to Trade" button.

This is finished! Now when looking at a plant in the PDB, scroll to the bottom to find the link that'll copy it into your tradelist. Fun fun fun!

Dave that is WONDERFUL!!! Already used it. You are the best!! I know it probably gets old hearing it, but I don't have a more flamboyant way of expressing my delight at being here everyday in this welcoming and responsive and warm environment.

Pocola, OK(Zone 7a)

Dave, you are absolutely THE BEST!

Plano, TX(Zone 8a)

Thank you, Dave. I haven't used the tradelist yet so off I go to check it out!

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

This is VERY cool, and could completely revolutionize (and rejuvenate) the trading activity on DG. It makes it MUCH easier to ensure our haves and wants are spelled correctly (which makes it easier for others to FIND what we are offering or looking for...) And a tradelist can be set up in a jiffy now - woohoo!
