Hey Kathy_ann! How long are you going to be there? We go every July to meet old friends and will be arriving on the 11th.

Last summer I did some nursery hopping in Destin, but was rather disappointed. Everything was way too pricey for what was offered. Believe it or not, the best selection and prices I found was at the Home Depot!

One of the places I visited was Potager's Gardens & Verandas (9755 US Highway 98 W, Destin, (850) 269-3211.) They have some beautiful garden accessories and nice plants, but again, it's all rather expensive. Try a Google search for "Destin, Florida plant nurseries" and you should get a listing of others in the surrounding area.

Thanks for the help, we're only going to be there 3 days I think, leaving to go back home on that sunday. I think that's the llth not sure without grabbing the calendar.

I live over the Midbay bridge from Destin, just a few miles. I do not do any nursery shopping there. Caters too much to the tourist, which means high prices. About 15-20 miles north is Crestview with two excellent nurseries. About 45 miles to the west is Pensacola. Many, many nurseries. A couple are huge. Those are the places I go.

There is the Crestview Nursery. Pretty good. They have brugs and such too. Lots of different honeysuckles. Go up 85 to Crestview. When you come to the intersection of 85 and 90 , stay on 85. You will come to an interestion with a light. On the left is a school, I think. Take a right and the road winds through some houses. Drive slow. You will see a small sign on your right the says, Crestview Nursery. Take a left there. Follow the road and it will take you to the nursery. The other one is called Green Leaf Nursery. Get on 85 and just keep going. Seems like it is 10 miles or so out of Crestview. I hope I am right on that one. Found it by accident going to the Florida roundup. Stopped in on the way back and got me a chinese wax banana for 10 buck!!! Then there is the Garden Gate. That is in Gulf Breeze on Hwy 98. Really neat place, but not too big. They sell stuff that attracts butterflies. I bought a bunch of ginger there for 6 bucks each. They also have passionflowers. I got caerulea, fledermouse, and biflora there.
