They are all very pretty. Let me know when you have some extras so we can send each other a box of cuttings. Begonias are easy to start and the smallest of cuttings will take.
Here's my begonia collection
Fj,
These are all ones that are extras that I started off the original plants, if you would like any or all of them they are ready to go! I'll send you an email also.
Flowerjunkie,
Deep shade, neglect, humidity - sounds like the plant for me. Think I've just been babying mine too much!
Liz
Yes. I killed my first "escargot" begonia with love! Some one gave me another at a plant swap. I stuck it at the very back of all the pots under a bench in my shade house and said to it "Rest in Peace". Never looked at it again until the spring when I was cleaning the shade house. I saw blooms coming from something I didn't recognize. The plant grew into a monters and was covered with blooms. This is when I started collecting them. I could do this!
Daisy
raven_locks,
I would like one of each please. I have can send you one of each of mine also. I think almost all of my starts are rooted. I'll double check and send you a list of what is actually rooted.
This is so much fun!
Daisy
FlowerJunkie

Daisy after you are finished plundering Raven, you can bring me cuttings of all of them! What luck!
Dick,
I think the work escargot referes to the swirl pattern in the leaf. Mine does not have any defined color pattern. Its more of a calico pattern on the leaf, but the leaf does have the swirl leaf.
Thanks
Daisy
Daisy
the name Escargot is a patented name for a specific Begonia
what you are referring to is called sinus curl
there is both left & right & quite a few Begonias have it
some of the prettiest Begonias have a sinus curl in my book :-)
here is a good website to try an identify your Begonias

Thanks Steve,
I'll check it out.
I LOVE that! What a pretty way to exibit your collection.
Pati
Thanks Pati! I go the baker's rack at Big Lotts for only $20.00. Its make of metal so it will last a few years outside and it if gets rusty that will only add to its character. LOL.

Wow, such beautiful begonias! It looks like there are quite a few of us that love them. My preference is the angel wings, but only because I can't seem to keep the rex's alive. I must fall under that category of killing them with love. I definitely need to get some cuttings started to offer up as trades, even though DH somehow thinks I have enough. Can you imagine that?? LOL!

Heather,
There is no such thing as "ENOUGH" of anything! Let me know if you ever want to trade Begonias. UH Oh that reminds me I have to get back with ravenlocks about our trade..
Daisy you have very beautiful Begonias.
Thank you! I have to add more pictures of new ones I just purchased.
Wow......when you will add?
Aah haa very nice.
Black leaf is looking very attractive. Good collection.
I think this is the number one not number 2, very very beautiful.
Cleopatra is very nice but small. Most of these are new and very small. They will soon be very very beautiful and I will post photos again. I also have some that I got in trade from raven_locks which she has posted above. We traded for those so I now have them in my collection also.
Thank YOU!
Cleopatra is very nice but Begonia U#002 is very beautiful .
Yes, U#002 is beautiful. But Cleopatra is much nicer. She looks bad because she just arrived in a box and her leaves got messed up. When she grows to be a healthy begonia with new leaves you will see her real beauty.
I am very anxious , when this plant bloom new leaves, please then post its new pictures.
Flowerjunkie, I bought a no-name plant marked "Rex Begonia" at my grocery store. Has an almost round leaf (kinda' heart shaped) that is dark green with light green veins. The leaf is very rough. Now it is growing long pink "threads" with tiny little bunches of leaves on the ends. If I ever get my camera to work again, I will post a picture. Does this description ring a bell? Is it really a Begonia?
Pati
edited to add: Your plants are just gorgeous!!!!!

Pati,
It sounds like Saxifraga stolonifera aka Strawberry Begonia. The little stalons resemble the strawberry growth (plantletts).
Daisy I think you have the best collection in Begonias.
Hi Gumlla,
Maybe not the best now but it will be some day! Thank YOU!
FJ, thank you so much. This poor plant was all dried out and looked like it wasn't long for this world when I bought it. I am so proud of how it has made a come-back. I seem to be more successful with no name orphan plants than with the nursery grown plants. Perhaps they are just grateful *grin*
Pati
FJ, one more question please. I found a website about my strawberry girl, and it said you could start them from the little plantletts, but it didn't say how. Will they grow roots like a spider plant? When do you cut them off?
Pati
Daisy
Do you have adult plants? Because I want to see, how are these looking when adult?
