Lots of y'all have met my Mom, Virginia. She's attended 2 Roundups and taken quite a few of you through the Quilt Museum in Paducah.
We're getting her hooked up on line hopefully this weekend and she'll have a DG subscription waiting for her.
I checked and YoYo1 hasn't been taken, so that will be her screen name. YoYo's are small fabric circles that quilters use, and she belongs to a club that quilts for charity called the YoYo's.
I posted this here instead of over in Welcome Mat,'cause I wanted more folks to see it.
Let's give her a big DG welcome....and please don't tell too many tales on me!
She's new to computers and to the internet, so go easy on her!
Mom will be here shortly!
Excellent! Virginia, it will be great to see you around DG. YoYo1, eh? That'll be easy to remember.
Virginia...I remember the YoYo quilt you made...and now I can add your name to my list of Dave Gardeners that I have met in person!! Welcome!! See ya this fall at the KYRU....Jo
The game plan is to have her on line Sat or Sun afternoon. She's quite pleased to be officially a member now.
It's great when family members are on together. Welcome, Virginia, to DG.
Welcome, Melody's Mom. There are quite a few here : mother and daughter pairs, aunts and neices...... haven't we?
Welcome Yoyo1, this is such an interesting place. My mother is Virginia also, easy for me to remember your name!
Howdy Ma'am! (Virginia)...will be good to see ya around here!
Alex still has the yo yo you taught her to make at last yrs Ky Roundup. She refuses to use it for something, just wants to save it!
I will never forget how rapt the girls were when she told them she would teach them to make yoyos. I think they had something else in mind , but got totally wrapped up in sewing them shortly. It was great to watch her explain this craft to the girls. I'm glad she's joining us. She belongs here with the all the greatest people on earth! Lou
How true, Lou.
By the way, hey Mel...did your Mom teach you to make the cornhusk dolls? Or did you teach her? That's another thing we both enjoyed. (Alex made some more once we got home!)
I'm the doll maker. I learned from a lady over in Mt. View , AR. Mom relies on me for all of her cornhusk sculpture.
She'll be pleased to know about the success of the yoyo's. She was a schoolteacher for years, so that was right up her alley.
