I thought about you DG members in Chile when I watched today's episode of Spring! on HGTV. http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/shows_hspr/episode/0,1806,HGTV_10238_22064,00.html Host David Tarrant searched out various native wildflowers and followed the trek that plant collector Harold F. Comber took in the 1920's.

What GORGEOUS country you have there! I just wanted to tell you that. :)

Hi gardenwife, Thank you !

While by the weekend you'll be celebrating the summer soltice, we will be enjoying the longest night and 3 long months of winter !

I do live 40 minutes drive from Conguillio National Park and yes, it is a nice part of the world.....cold and wet in winter!

I bought, not long ago, a digital camera, I'll be able to post some photos now and then , and when spring gets here, I'll try to send photos of the many native flowers and plants found in this part of the world.

In the mean time I'm sending you this, it is the Llaima Volcano,if you look carefully you can see it puffing!. The last time that it erupted , it created a baby volcano that you can see on its the right side .
Chile is a country that it is still in creation....

Hi, Cristina - Glad to hear you got a digital camera. We'll be looking for more pictures from you! It's fascinating to see the native wildflowers that so many of the cultivars we grow descended from.

Thank you for your your comment on Chile, gardenwife. I agree with you: it's a beautiful country and full of contrasts. We have the driest desert in the world (Atacama desert), as well as wonderful rainforests with trees that are thousands of years old, over 6000 Km coast as well as Andes Mountains, etc. You name it, we have it. Easter Island and Robinson Crusoe Islands (Juan Fernandez, Mas a Tierra & Mas Adentro) are chilean territory as well.

I will have a digital camera very soon. A wonderful Garden Angel, who does not allow me to give his name, is sending me his first camera, which he now replaced with a newer model. I cannot tell you how happy I am. I have been doing my Happy Dance all this week.

Until spring arrives (September), I will practice making pictures of my Muschito (kitty boy) whom I expect to be cooperative (he is quite temperamental and spoiled).
