Question..Darius maybe?

Fort Pierce, FL(Zone 10a)

There is a bush that grew in my grandmother's yard in Hendersonville NC. We always called it the money plant because in the fall we cut full branches off, let them dry, then rubbed the membrane covering the leaf off and it left an almost transparent, round, white leaf. They have them at the Hendersonville Curb Market every year. The whole branch makes the most beautiful dried arrangemet, and they can be sprayed different colors. Anybody recognize this description?

Absolutly! But we always called it money plant too, I don't know of another name. Maybe a good nursery in the area could help you?

YES, that's the one, Shelly! Thanks so much. Now that I saw it on PDB I remember it being called Silver Dollar too. I just wonder if it would grow here in FL?

Pati... if it can grow in the desert, it can definitely grow in Florida. :D.

If you want a simple and impressive 'everlasting' flower display in your home, 8-12 stems of this, nicely peeled to expose the 'silver dollars' is hard to beat.

In Britain is is called 'Honesty' - not sure why, but the botanical name (Lunaria) reflects the fact that the silver translucent remains of the seed pods look like the full moon.

cinemike, Honesty is what I know it as too.
