Having children and a job that requires me to be working in August, for many years I haven't had much opportunity to choose when I go on holiday - July.
Now I'm semi-retiring and will have much more choice (and only grown-up children).
Problem is, of course, being away from the garden for a long time (typically just over 4 weeks for me), means that weeds flourish, I miss my whole lily crop and the lawn grows to jungle proportions...
So when is the best time for gardeners to go on holiday???
Where and when should gardeners go on holiday?
Darn, I thought being in the garden was my holiday.
Fall for me. Late oct or so. I get my fall planting done and then I can walk away. Since there are no "real" seasons where I am, I like to go East or North and enjoy fall.
If you are a world traveler, It is always spring somewhere lol!
In your part of the world I would think getting SOUTH in the winter would be ideal...N. Africa in March is terrific...S. Spain or Portugal in the early Spring with the wild flowers.
