I sent someone a worm??? How did I do that? I'm confused, is this a bogus email?

I edited the name and email- I don't even know who they are. Hmmm.
GW help!

Hi, Tsavo - It might not even have been your account that sent it. Viruses often grab a random e-mail address from the infected computer's address book and forge their outgoing headers to make it look like that user sent the infected e-mail.

If you have (1) kept current on critical Windows updates, (2) have some sort of software firewall like ZoneAlarm running and (3) have a current version of a reputable antivirus and have been faithful in doing your updates (I make mine check daily since there are so many new ones coming out), it should have caught any variants of Netsky you might have received.

Look at the e-mail's headers; see if you can see different domain names in it. You might find it didn't really come from where the "from" said it did, either.

Thanks GW! I'll run a check when I get home from work. (hugs)

Rubbing sleep from my eyes. g'mornin'.

I just noticed that's a Hotmail address. Do you download your Hotmail to your home computer via an e-mail program (like Outlook, Eudora, Incredimail, etc) or do you use the free, web-based version? It's *highly* unlikely that any basic Hotmail account sent viruses. That would mean Hotmail was infected and propagating virus-infected e-mails, and that would be all over the news.

Rest easy, little bird. ;)

I have a free hotmail account. I just go to their server and check my mail. :) Thank you so much GW! I was afraid I sent someone a worm.

You've only sent worms inadvertantly in mail plant trades. ;)
