How did you pick your DG name? (Part 4)

Ewing, KY(Zone 6a)

This thread just seems to keep coming back and part 3 has gotten so long so thought I would start a part 4. I am cheating I am copying my comments from the very first one since the ones reading it now will be new and won't have seen it.

Ok I know I have been asked and I am sure others have too. How did you pick your name for DG? I thought this would be fun as your tell how you picked your name to tell you real name also that way we can put real names with your garden name.I will go first. Its really pretty simple. From the time we first got a computer I preached at my kids not to put there name, address etc on the computer. When I started getting into sites, icq etc I had to have a name.Well I love mystical things unicorns, pegasus, etc. My daughter had given me a beanie baby unicorn and its name was mystic. So Mystic was born.My real name is Peggy. Ok who's next?

Here are parts 1,2 and 3. It's allot of great reading.

I don't know if I get in one the earlier ones or not. Anyway I and my husband are leaflady because we take several dumptruck loads of leaves from a nearby town each fall. When we changed internet servers a few years back we didn't want to use out real names anymore. In the mental search for a new internet name leaflady was born.

I wanted my name to be Texas Star, because I love that flower so much, and because it is the name of my website. But it was already taken,
And so I chose my second favorite plant that was not taken,( Frostweed,) this is a lovely Texas native plant that will bloom in full sun or shade, very adaptable and lovely, every one should have this plant, it is also a perennial,

My orginal name was buckeyemomsgard being a new member I did not comprehend the significance of such a looooooong one. Needless to say I found out fast every time I had to type it to log in. What a nerd! It came from my being a huge Ohio State football fan. Of course a mom and then a gardener. In fact I thought my name was going to be buckeyemomsgarden. LOL My daughter Hugahosta couldn't stand it any longer and the other day suggested I make a change so now it is Buckimom! But of course I am still a gardener. LOL Bucki for short

I'm not kidding about the buckeye football fan thing my sister got me this bird feeder for my birthday this year! Oh by the way that clothes line hasn't seen a full line of clothes in years. It makes a great birdfeeder holder though. :) Besides you can't hang clean clothes and have them stay that way with the feeding of our feathered friends going on. LOL

I'm Darius, my legal name. Never occurred to me 4 years or more ago when I joined DG to use a fictional name. Lord only knows what THAT might have been, LOL.

Gerris is the genus for my favorite insect, the Water Strider.

My real name is Donna, I came up with Pudgy Mudpies because
A: I am pudgy, lol and
B: I love to play in the dirt.

Timberlea, NS(Zone 6a)

Donna: every time I look at your user name, I read it as "PudgyMudpuppies." Don't know why my brain twists things around sometimes! LOL!

Rhonda

LOL, too funny! Well, I love puppies, so it would still fit. ;~)
It must just be one of those twisters, like my husbands name is John & we often get called Don & Johnna. LOL

Pauline Isabelle Reid Loeffler was my neighbor when I was a younger Mom and she taught me to garden in her "extra" plot between her Colonial home and my English Tudor. Every day I'd help her weed, feed, move, remove slugs, etc. She lived to 102+ and only died three years ago. Her 75 year old, only child, son, died 25 days later and was unable to attend her memorial service and asked me to give the eulogy - never again! I was a wreck.

I had moved in '91 and she did come out several times and loved our gardens. In '98 when we were selected to be one of the seven homes on the Southold Historical Society's Garden Tour I dedicated all of our gardens to her. She was a sweet southern belle, from Albemarle NC, born in 1900. She's the only person I've ever met who lived in three centuries. Her uncle was in the Civil War! So my "pirl" is in her honor and in her memory.

What a precious way to remember a precious woman! Glad to know where that came from.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

The first night we slept in the house I woke up to "The Old Wooden Cross" being sung, looked out the window and there she was, singing up a storm as she tended her garden. What a gem this real PIRL was!

My last name is "Carroll" and the old Gaelic spelling is "Cearbhaill" but it's pronounced the same.

When we got into Irish Wolfhounds we used Cearbhaill as a kennel name (meaning "warlike champion"- fitting for sighthounds) and I've been using it all over the web as a handle ever since.

Utica, MI(Zone 6b)

My real nameis Abbie, and mine is a silly reason, It is my dogs names, Scooby and Suey. Scooby is a 4year old great dane who has an anxiety disorder, ( he shakes a bit all the time but its NOT wobblers therefore we, myself and the vet have determined that its anxiety) And Suey is an eight year old smooth coated chow chow. They both are very sweet. When theres an emergency vehicle in the area he howls and howls......so funny my daughter and i howl along sometimes....lol

That is what people - relatives and friends have been calling me ever since I was a child. Shortened from Dinakar. So it became pretty simple when I first bumped into DG while doing a 'google search' on some plant. I just signed in using 'Dinu' and it has stuck. Easy to remember, easy for others to spell out, easy for someone to call me. It's one four-letter word I like!

My real name is Gina, but like Abbie (scoobysuey) my pet's name made it into my online moniker; Paloma is the beauuutiful tortoiseshell-colored, mut-of-a-kitty I got when I moved into my first apartment, Junior year of college.

Ewing, KY(Zone 6a)

Wow lots of new faces nice to meet ya'll. Isn't it fun to find out how we all came up with our names? Scoobysuey when I saw your name I wondered if you had Danes. My son has Danes. He has loved Scooby since he was little. I figured he would name one Scooby but he hasn't yet. He did name one Daphne. lol They have 3 that they keep all the time and right now 2 puppies. The rest of the puppies have been sold. At one time they had 8 Danes talk about allot of food.

I have noticed allot of people use there pets name in their user name. Somehow I don't think I would fit as a Chester, my dogs name. lol

Mine's pretty simple. Its my first and last name initials phonetically, well nearly - CW.

With a last name like Friday - what else?
