Banned

I got banned from a certain website.... the one almost everyone goes to, I don't think I should say the name. You might have seen my other post.

Anyways, I thought how it's a little funny that even though I'm banned and can't use the site, Spike still has my contributions to his database up.

Just saying... Any one else been banned?

LOL I think half the members here have been banned over there at one time or another.

Just type Spike and Gardenweb in the search box you'll find that many came here the same way.

I left voluntarily when I was contacted by a new Dave's Garden person who had also noticed the the GardenWeb is more than slightly anti-Christian. I've never been sorry I left and came to DG. One of my daughters goes to GW more than here and thinks I'm crazy in my opinion. But then, she is not a strong Christian either so that may be the cause of our difference of opinion.

LOL - just found your post! Am a recent member here in Dave's Garden...mostly posting on Hoyas...and YES...I am of the Proud, the Many, the Banned. Oh, this happened about a year ago...a gaggle of us were kicked off because we mentioned someone else's name who was banned, and then others were banned because they defended us. A real muddle. I got back on under an assumed name, another computer and new data...Spike found an email I wrote to another member...ZAP!

I was banned when I posted about the 911 attacks on the hosta forum - for posting off subject!! Go Figure!! Spike's not only anti-christian - I think he's also anti-american.

Hello fellow banned members, I too was removed from the site, I referred someone to a website, justjoeysroses, ironically its a sponsor on the site. I think looking back, what an idiot this "spike" is. Probably some moe-ron with issues. Oh well better to be here than where I'm not wanted, kind of forgot about him til I read this.

I know someone banned for writing the word Yahoo. Someone else for mentioning Aloha Hoya in the same thread as Kartuz, Smoleys, Logees ("pushing a grower"). Someone else for saying that Carol sent her hoyas. Go figger.

I have gotten several warnings for off topic but never banned.
Also won't let me post more than 1 followup unless I change the title.. Glad we have the feedom to post as we want here
(as long as it is in the right spirit) I have NEVER been warned here for anything :)

I think that gardeningforums shouldnt be contacted to religion. They are two totally different things and they dont have any connection, so please, let's keep DG religion free.
Here we have people from all around the world. We have muslims, we have hindus etc, so I think that if we start to talk about religions there will be more than one opinion. Same as in politics.

We have a 'Prayer Request' forum here at DG, but that is the closest we get to religion I think.

When we had the fires here in CA, a lady asked for prayers for everyone in CA.. well that did not set too well with some of the members at GWeb. So, that made me feel like they could not even spare a prayer. It made me sick inside, I couldn't believe that it upset them so much.. I don't care what religion they are/were.. they have no heart or pity for others, only pretend to. I asked for my membership to be cancelled, he said okay, but no refund.. so I deleted my pages but my name still shows up as being a member there. I received several solcitations to renew my membership so after several attempts at e-mailing Spike and asking him to please not send me anymore requests, I finally forwarded those e-mails as SPAM. Haven't heard a word since. So, you can BAN them too. The final straw was when several their just got so verbal and mad at some innocent people there that they finally just left. That just showed what mentality some of them have there. Not all are bad, but some ruin it all for everyone else.

by banned = we got sent to the Disney site when we tried to post or anything on the site.

Seems like getting banned from GWeb has become a badge of honor here. Do you think if I went there and tried to start a forum "The joys of Kudsu" I could get banned? (I did go there once, I was very bored) Do I have to become a member to get banned? "Hey Spike, your name has some Freudian problems"

Frank you could get banned easier than you think, not really a badge of honor, more like, whats your problem spike, hes probably got napoleon syndrome, try napoleonsyndrome.com

He sent me a very sarcastic and rude email when I asked him which rule I broke. Keep in mind that my email was very humble and not offensive; I was hoping I could get my account reinstated.

So I wrote him back that it's ridicules that he was sarcastic and rude to me. And that his behavior reflects that of a dictator and he treats everyone like he's superior to them just because he's the webmaster.

Then he said that he doesn't expose himself or his staff to abusive emails. Um... maybe he shouldn't send them in the first place.

Spike is the problem...not GW....which is full of wonderful folks.

But...AND....here we are...at last in free territory and enjoying the heck out of ourselves!

hello everyone !!! i am new to this site and new to being banned at gw :O) i was banned for changing my screenname ( go figure ) i started out as rlsh1974 and wanted something a little more interesting so i changed to tngreenthumbs ( i live in tennessee so i thought tngreenthumbs was kind of cute ) well apparently spike thought i was a gardenweb terrorist or something and sent me to disney ... he kept questioning why i wanted to change my name but in a sarcastic very rude manner and frankly i just got tired of having to defend myself.
I have also found that not all rules apply to everyone on that site . i have read many of you were banned for things such as asking about a fellow banned member ( lol) what the heck is that about ? i do agree though with the mention about gw not being a bad place , it is just run by a very mean person that feels the need for power and the only way he /she can get it is by bullying people via the internet .

i hope to be here for a long time and make some great friends to share gardening tidbits with . i am leaving my bitterness toward spike here in this post and i hope to never have to go there again .

yowza! glad I didn't join that site! I probably wouldn've been banned for being pro-turtle.

Seriously. I'm new, but I like it here. It's the shared interest that brings us all together and through that we learn about our differences and become friends. And isn't THAT what the world should be about?

Anyway, I'm glad I don't see any infighting here. Thanks for making this a good place to be.

Well said!!! Gourd, I noticed the difference right away too. I know that we all come from different religious backgrounds but everyone here gets along just the same. I also agree that there are a few people there that are his spies that go telling on ya even if you say something remotely about him or GW on other forums (thats kind of what happened to me). Haven't you noticed how a certain few can mention anybody or link anything on there and not get booted? Anyone else gets booted regardless.

I also noticed right away that people here seem to get along just great. I don't miss all the fighting and bickering that goes on there. In the past year or so I was always left like I was in the middle and had to choose sides between people. I thought of myself as friends of all and everyone there my friends (unless they specified to me I wasn't). I get along with everyone and can be friends with anyone as long as they treat me with respect regardless of who their friends are.

If anyone here got sent to Disneyland, look at it this way. When one door closes another opens and you just walked in a better place than the one you left.

BTW, I guess I should make something clear though. Like Carol said, most people there are the greatest people one could ever meet. The problem ones are Spike & his few followers (they know who they are).

I've never been banned from over there, but rarely go to the conversation forums either. I 've done some careful trading over there. meaning, I'm careful who I trade with, but all my conversations are over here.

Wow - a former GW fraternity here! I too was banned for posting the URL of a banned vendor (which means a non advertiser.) Yes, I too still get his "updates". I think he keeps everyone who ever joined on the list to impress his advertisers that he has so much "readership." Good idea there to report him as spam. I could use my wife's computer and another name, but who needs to sneak around? I think he has "spies" on every forum that keep him informed. There is no way he can monitor the dozens and dozens of forums with their sub-forums so quickly. I still keep in touch privately with a few I met there, so that's o.k. Love Dave's Garden set up a whole lot better! Harold

What do you guys do to get banned? You all seem like nice friendly people to me!

i got banned because let trader know how sorry he was!! its no no sent to disney only was on there a month.. i let him spike know he was in wrong.. i took his or her one warning.. spike hernandez maybe is rosa h.. he has his pets because one did something she was banned a month only. and tattle tales.... his sponsers do not no what a hitler, he is..or that he is against anything good...
