Lemonade Stand

New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)

My children was bored so they decided to do the Lemondade Stand in front yard last Saturday.. They made Pink Lemonade and Lemonade.. They made some posters and brought table and chairs to the end of drive way. WE have big front yard. They carried those things to the end of front yard and set it up. I thought, people won't stop by to buy the drinks.

But... they did stopped... So far they made $4.50 for an hour! The drink cost 25 cents each. They was waving the poster on driver that pass by. It was funny but I was watching them close.

Now the kids want to do it again.. with Fresh homemade Lemonade and Homemade cookies. Right now, DD is making some M&M cookies, Russian Rock, Chocolate Chip cookies. I think it was cute.. Some people that know my kids, they stopped by and bought the drinks!

Here's the first customer that stopped by to buy the drink!

That's so cute!

I did that when I was a child. My children have done it as well. My sister Myra, as a young child did it here when they first moved to Spokane (I was older and gone by then) and she ended up with a half page color photo in the Newspaper about it (because it was the beginning of summer?). I love those memories and think lemondade/koolaid stands are great fun for children. Just always caution them how to act around strangers, when you aren't there to protect them - looks like a long run from the house to the road! (ouch - am I protective or what!)

I used to do it as a kid as well. Though I don't much care for lemonade any longer, I always make a point to stop at these, as I know how thrilling it is for these kids to "make a sale".

Yes right that what It worry me about long drive way.. I just check on them every 5 min or less.. to make sure they are ok.. I told them if they feel uncomfortable when any body come.. just come home and leave everything there but the money! lol

I did it, too -- I think we sold Kool-Aid. It was at a friend's house, and she lived on a fairly busy residential street. Good experience, part of being a kid! :)

DD made the Russian Rock batch and baked at 7 this morning! She is only 11 and made and baked them herself! I told her.. you have to clean up the mess. She did! She sell it with the Homemade Lemonade and Pink Lemonade.

Have you all taste the Russian Rock cookies before? If not, I will be more happy to post recipe! My mom got it from a lady that worked in Daily Iberian newspaper with my Dad. It was very old recipe!

Here the photo.. she set it up the table etc.. today. Her third day of Lemonade stand. She want to do it often during summer time to see how much she earn!

Here's Teddy. He's with my DD at the Lemonade stand. He is very watching DOG.. He would chase any vechiles that have diesel gas. If the kids are by the street. He would come with them and stay there. Every morning, he would walk with kids to the end of drive way to wait for the bus. When the bus pick up the kids. He run back home. He would watch kids get on the bus then He would keep turn his head to check on them to make sure they get on the bus so he can walk back home.
